We were lucky to catch up with Lets Rap Podcast recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lets Rap, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The idea basically came from our individual stories. Our story was a realization in our individual lives to you through us. We realized that a lot of us experience the same problems, but never seem to share how we deal with them. So we came to the conclusion that we needed to get this conversation out into the public, and that’s when the Let’s Rap Podcast was born. Lets Rap Podcast is a platform where we’re able to be open and stay true to ourselves. Speaking on our experiences without tearing each other down to boost our own ego or talking down on anyone else to feel empowered. We speak to the me who need a space to say what’s on their mind and talk to other men that may be going through the same things as us.
Lets Rap , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are the Let’s Rap Podcast. Let’s Rap Podcast is hosted by Philasophikal and Jay.Ecko. Man we are the best of friends, we love sports, share a passion for gaming, and enjoy new life experiences like new restaurants, debates, movies and anime. Let’s Rap Podcast is a discussion and roundtable for the everyday man. We’re opening the lines of communication between men so that we can help each other grow to a level of healthy masculinity. We are an everyday man’s guide to improving decision-making, relationships, and overall life. Every week, me and Jay would have these long conversations about life, social issues, music and anime. Our conversations always ended up going back to how men weren’t talking to each other about REAL issues enough. In short, Let’s Rap Podcast is for men who want to change the course of their life—in relationships, career, influence, confidence, and power. We are most proud of being able to grow within ourselves but being able to help others one person at a time.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What’s driving us is the joy of meeting people. We love talking to people, having amazing conversations. Being able to bounce ideas off of people and most of all being able to relate to people. Getting to know people that have gone through this or either going through it as we speak. Just to say we are here we’ve been there before and here’s how we can help. The discussions we are having show that we are still thinking, feeling or either feeling traumatized by past experiences and it’s real and it’s ok to speak on it.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As Black men, we view our lives as a story of resiliency, in itself. What truly drives us is getting the chance to get better everyday, moving forward, focusing on tomorrow and not necessarily continuing to live in the past. We always speak on remembering going through the bad relationships, suicidal thoughts and just feeling like we had to give up on life. How life wasn’t blossoming right away, or fast enough. I personally had goals of wanting to be a father, I wasn’t married yet, I wasn’t in my career field and even worse, wasn’t stable financially. I wasn’t close to family and just shut off the world. Ecko was going through a similar path of regret, sense of failure and seeking to find his identity. That resiliency made us the best of friends and being able to share the greater possibilities within the world today.
