Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Letisha Bereola. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Letisha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I retired from the TV news industry after 11 years to start my own media and coaching business. Leaving a successful career to go and create a new one is quite the risk but I had faith the bold move was preceded by God’s calling on my life. I always knew TV news wasn’t the complete vision for my life but I didn’t have another piece of the puzzle until 2020 when I heard about coaching on a podcast. Right away I knew this was the next step for me. Coaching summed up what I could never put into a clear job description but I’ve been talking about coaching women into their purpose for as long as I can remember. I just didn’t call it coaching! Once I knew where my career was headed I started coach training right away while I was still news anchoring. I was coaching friends and then their friends for free and then for a small fee. I hired my own coach to help me work through all the mindset drama that comes along with taking a risk. I was growing my business and my faith while I was planning my exit. It was a very personal and private journey for me. No one had a clue I was leaving until about three or four months before I was ready to go. It was a risk I was preparing for, had faith in and knew deeply it was my risk to take.
Letisha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a holistic career coach and media contributor who helps women create fulfilling, purposeful careers without burnout. In 2021 I left my successful news career to start my own business working 1:1 with clients helping them get to where they are to where they want to be and small groups where we build community and discover God’s purposes together. I’m also a media contributor for the digital platform TheGrio where I have an online weekly show “The Reset” and I an interview all the founders about their entrepreneurial journey for the emerging e-commerce brand FLOURYSH. I’m absolutely LOVE helping people discover their purpose in work and in life and helping them overcome faith and mindset drama so they can pursue their big dream. It brings me great joy to partner with women and lead them into “ah ha!” moments that propel them forward.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is showing up online consistently. I’ve learned so much about marketing and I think one of the biggest takeaways for me has been building trust and connection with my audience. I’m blessed because I’ve had a head start building an audience. I’ve been on TV since I graduated college in 2010 so my audience naturally grew from that exposure. But now that I’m in business for myself I’ve learned an audience won’t help you grow your business unless you engage with them, build rapport and trust and show your value consistently. People like to buy from people they like and the more you reach out and reveal yourself to them the more data they have about whether they like you or not. If they like you, they’ll stick around and consume your content and maybe one day buy what you offer them.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been my email list, Instagram and LinkedIn. I try to stay on my toes with my content online and nourish my community with value and a bit of fun. It’s still amazing to me when a discovery call is booked off of a few emails or my Instagram posts. I’m learning the more authentic I am about my own career journey, the more people can relate and trust I can help them. It’s been fun watching the growth, I’m almost at client capacity after only 7 months in business!
