We were lucky to catch up with Leticia Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Leticia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I got my first client by being resourceful, impersonal. When I first started, I didn’t have a big budget for marketing so I started by taking models and posting my work consistently. I shared my journey on social media, talked about why it started, and educated people about waxing and skin care. I also made it really important for the audience to get to know me.
My first paying client came from word-of-mouth and Instagram. Someone trusted me because they saw my passion, results, and how I treated every client. I wasn’t trying to be perfect in aesthetic at the time, just consistent, real, and truly cared about the experience.
That one client led to referrals and from there I focused on treating every appointment like the opportunity that would bring the next one. Leticia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Leticia Rodriguez, founder and lead wax specialist of Silky Smooth waxing studio located in Fort Worth Texas. I started my business in 2020 during Covid by investing all the savings I had at the time in building from the ground up with passion, consistency, and a focus on education and client comfort
Silky Smooth specializes in full body, waxing and intimate skin care with an emphasis on gentle technique, real client, connection, and creating a space where people feel confident and cared for. Our studio is known for results, comfort, and a warm experience. My mission is to continue empowering clients to feel confident, comfortable and beautiful in their skin while growing a beauty, brand rooted in community and care.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my client, so has been leading with comfort and trust. I focus on sharing value, not just selling it. I show results, make waxing feel approachable, gentle, and safe while still teaching the proper aftercare to give clients the best results.
Consistency on social media, authentic connection and word-of-mouth have been the biggest drivers of growth. When clients feel seen, cared for, and comfort in your hands, they naturally return and refer other others. Building genuine relationships grows a loyal clientele, far more than discounts or trends that could.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with clients by creating a warm personal experience from start to finish, not just during the appointment. I communicate through social media, educational content, and follow up reminders, so clients always feel supported no matter what.
I remember personal details about all of our clients, celebrate small wins, and create a space where clients feel comfortable and cared for. When people feel valued and understood, loyalty becomes natural. My goal is for every client I feel like they belong, not just like they booked a service
