We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lester Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lester, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea Path2Redemption while incarcerated and wanted to prevent some young person from making the mistake I did at age of 19 years old. I sentenced to serve life in prison at the age of 19 years old and I served 22 years in prison before being released at the age 41 years old.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I saw the need to use my lived experience and the lessons learned from the mistakes I made. To prevent someone else from wasting their lives incarcerated. I started creating different classes inside the prison to address the problems that lead to my incarceration and others as well. So I created this program called “ The Five Stages of Incarceration”, to help others.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The power of sharing with others your personal lessons learned from the mistakes of the past. This is key for me in sharing my story with others through mentoring and life coaching to empower others. I served 22 years and 5 months in prison. During that time I learned a lot about myself, the power of choices, how one trauma shape’s their behavior and I found myself working through all of those issues.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by being transparent about my journey of Incarceration and the lessons learned during my 22 years in prison.
