We were lucky to catch up with Lesly Ordonez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lesly , thanks for joining us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?

We had a customer in which she needed a cake the same week she reached out and in the world of bakery we tend to book in advance and so when a customer asks for a custom cake the week of the event some bakeries may not have that availability. Luckily with this certain customer we had the time to provide her with the cake she was looking for. She mentioned that she had reached out to 4 other local bakeries with no success until she found us!

This place is amazing!! I wanted to buy a very special 50th birthday cake for my best friend. Called 4 local bakeries and all said they couldn’t make it in time (I called Sat/Sun for a Fri/Sat pickup). I started panicking and found this place on Google. The reviews were great, so I called on Monday and they gladly took my order. I let them know what I was looking for (numeric cakes and what she likes: music, gardening, and martinis 😁). I gave them the flavors of her choice. I was nervous because I’ve never ordered from them before, but let me tell you what! When they delivered it to my house Sat morning and she opened the box to show me, I literally cried!! It was the most beautiful cake I’ve ever seen!! I even told them I’ve never cried over a cake before! Lol 🤷🏽‍♀️

When I brought it to my girlfriend’s house, everyone was amazed and couldn’t believe their eyes. Once we all tasted it… holy moses!! It was like eating a little piece of heaven! So moist and the flavor was YUM (lemon cake w/cream cheese buttercream). It was literally insane and everyone loved the cake even though no one wanted to touch it because of how perfect it was…but it was SO delicious. I took a couple pieces home and stuck it in my freezer so I can eat it again!

I will definitely be coming here for all my future cakes! They were so nice and friendly and knew exactly what I was looking for without me saying much. I wanted it to be the most incredibly special cake for my best friend and they more than exceeded my expectations! Thank you so much for making this an extra special day!! Stay safe and blessed! How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

A time in my life that I have had to pivot was when I had to make the decision between my career and my own business. I was a teacher for 8 years and I absolutely loved it. I graduated with my Bachelors in education K-12 and then I got my Masters in educational Leadership to become an assistant principal. As the world entered a pandemic I had to really pivot and choose between one or the other. I believe if you give 100 percent of your efforts in one area you believe in then you will succeed and I could not give 100 percent to either of the two jobs that were consuming my life. I decided to pursue the bakery business that I had put all my savings into and I had a love for it as well. Even though it was my mom who started the dream, I supported it and we worked really hard together to make it flourish. I think that as much as a pivot it was also a risk because there are things that I had to leave to follow a dream that has taken such an educative journey.

As the years come, so does your wisdom and knowledge and I am forever on a journey in being a successful business owner!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Since I am in the business of baking and cake making I think that the biggest factor that has helped up keep an amazing reputation is a combination of things: Not only do we make sure that our product taste good but I make sure that from the beginning of any cake inquiry I provide the best customer service I can give. I am attentive and I like to be very specific and clear about the end result of the cake design. I make sure that customers hear from me in less than 48 hours and once they pick up the cake we make sure that we come in clutch with the design and end result of the cake.

so, a place who treats you well, has great tasting product, and aesthetically meets your expectations is a place worth going back to! This is how we have built and kept a reputation with our market.

In addition, we live in a world of reviews so asking our happy customers to give us a review for all to see when they google us is also a great strategy to help build that reputation you want to preserve.
