Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leslie Phillips . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Leslie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I grew up in a small town in Wyoming that seemed to be plagued by silent suffering my whole life. With alarmingly high suicide rates, and the weight of those struggles seemed to suffocate the spirit of our town. After returning home about 4 years ago those struggles hit closer to home than they ever had. With my nursing background I knew I had to help, to heal, support, and restore.
I felt so strongly that I needed to establish a health and wellness center with a gym. I wanted to create a safe place where individuals could heal their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being without judgement. Healing as a whole: mind, body, soul. My goal was to educate, provide resources, and health and wellness in many modalities.
As our center grew, so did our understanding of the interconnectedness of holistic wellness. We realized that true healing required a comprehensive approach. And so, we expanded our services, incorporating cutting-edge therapies such as IV therapy, personalized nutrition plans, and essential vitamin supplementation. These elements formed the foundation of our approach to physical healing, recognizing the vital role it plays in overall well-being.
But we didn’t stop there. We recognized the power of movement and exercise as an integral component of holistic wellness. To further support our community’s physical health, we added a state-of-the-art gym facility, offering a space for individuals to nurture their bodies and build strength.
Leslie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Leslie Phillips, I’m a registered nurse in a small town in Wyoming. After moving back from years away, I felt this strong pull to create a Health and wellness center for my community.
I wasn’t sure what running a business would look like but I knew I needed to do it. After I set my mind to it, things just divinely fell into place. Before I knew it I had my own place and was providing health in the form of IVs, vitamin injections, holistic healing and more. After two years of successful business we were able to grow and expand into a new building and add on a full state of the art 24 hr gym.
Through out the past two and a half years of business, the amount of people we’ve have helped, and the success stories we’ve seen, I know that we’re doing what our community needs. Helping the way I always felt I needed too
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I worked full time as a labor and delivery/ER nurse in the middle of covid. Working 16 hour days, 5 days a week, and not being able to help my patients the way they needed I felt even more strongly that I needed to provide health in a different way. So I created my health and wellness center on the side and took clients whenever I could. After less than a year I was busy enough to quit the hospital and do my passion full time.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding a small business is hard. Working over time each week, I saved and saved and saved for what I knew would one day be my full time business. I eventually took out a small business loan and continued to grow my business. After two years in business, I was successful enough to buy a bigger building and with the help of my husband add a full gym. The new bigger place allowed us to add more services and our business continues to grow. Adding new streams of revenue continues to fund our business
