We recently connected with Leslie McGriff and have shared our conversation below.

Leslie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I had an amazing client whose son had recently passed away. She reached out to me to create a bracelet for her in his honor. It included his favorite colors and charms that had sentimental meaning to both of them. It was bittersweet for her and it was an absolute honor to be chosen. She wears it daily as it reminds her that she always has a piece of his heart close to her at all times.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I have always been a Creative. Whether it was in my former occupation as an Interior Designer or when I was a Master Cosmetologist; I’ve always loved to start with a blank canvas. To create a beautiful masterpiece from the infinite possibilities that surround creativity is a challenge that I will always welcome.

When I was younger, I can remember spending countless hours at Sharon & Lewis textile warehouse, Cloth World, Hancock Fabrics and even more recently Gail K. Fabrics. My mother is a Seamstress and all I ever saw was her designing wedding gowns, creating exotic pieces for Fireplace mantles, making nothing, into something AMAZING. So that’s where all of my creative inspiration originated. From drafting blueprints, to dimension plans to styling, coloring and cutting hair and now a self taught jewelry designer. I love it all!

Now, that I create Custom Bracelets, my creativity literally has no boundaries. No one can say, you can’t use those colors together or you can’t mix those stones and that glass together because it’s all about this piece being the biggest WOW factor in your accessories. It’s about a lifestyle…enhancing your wardrobe and matching your individual personality.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

When I first started on Social Media, I felt as if I was grasping as straws. I would only post “still”photos and not utilize a lot of videos or stories. I didn’t have a target audience so I was kind of all over the place, even with the pieces I was creating. Now that I’ve taken several courses and identified my target audience, I spend less time wasting time. I now gear my designs, and everything that I create more towards my target audience, and to the clients that I know will purchase; who I can definitely build retention with as repeat clients and who will direct other clients to my products. I also learned more about including “call to action” in my posts that will make clients engage and WANT to learn more about my product by asking them to “follow, like, tag” etc.

I would encourage anyone trying to build an audience, to KNOW who they want to be visible to and to try to engage with that audience. Create Lifestyle posts that will help them relate to you as a person and get to know YOU. Once people get comfortable in knowing who you are as a person, they will definitely be more inclined to support you.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to have 100% client retention and to eventually have my brand in several high end stores. When you walk into a store and see a John Hardy piece, I want Elle Chase Accents pieces to be right next to it and I am doing my best to improve my craft in someway every single day to make that happen! From thinking even more, outside the box in my designs… to improving my packaging and making it even more elegant. I want my brand, Elle Chase Accents to be THE go-to brand for every single person that DARES to be original.
