We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lesley Pyle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lesley below.
Alright, Lesley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
First, I think you have to define success for yourself. My version of success may look very different from someone else’s. For instance, in my definition of success I want to include being a great wife, mother and friend, not just being successful in business and making money. I want to give back and leave a Godly legacy behind. I want to run my business with integrity and never put success before my faith and my family.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the founder of HireMyMom.com, a boutique service connecting Small Businesses with Virtual Professionals across the country. I began my work-at-home career in 1995 as a freelance and shortly thereafter launched my first website: Home-Based Working Moms — which was an online space for moms who worked from home.
HireMyMom, founded in 2007, is a job site that allows small businesses to connect directly with talented virtual professionals who have chosen the freedom and flexibility of working from home. Whether a small business is seeking a virtual assistant, accountant, online business manager, digital marketing expert or customer service or any other role, they can post their job on the platform for job seekers to apply directly to.
Unlike other staffing or job sites, HireMyMom is not an agency and does not take a commission or any portion of the payments from either party. The platform simply allows the two parties to connect and charges a nominal fee for that service. Furthermore, many small businesses today are seeking candidates in or near their time zone who are familiar and accustomed with US business culture and for that reason, HireMyMom is primarily for those in N. America.
Since launching HireMyMom.com in 2007, we’ve helped over 10,000 entrepreneurs and small businesses find the right freelancers or remote employees for their company. As both an entrepreneur and a mom of 4, I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs and small businesses take their business to the next level by hiring dependable, talented virtual professionals while also helping remote professionals find legitimate, flexible work from home jobs.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
For me, being authentic and staying true to myself has helped me develop a reputation as genuine and trustworthy. I incorporate who I am as a person into my business and my branding. People want to know who they are doing business with. It’s the Know, Like, Trust factor. They want to know you, like you and trust you to do business with you. I don’t shy away from my faith and who I am because I want to be authentic. The saying that “your vibe will attract your vibe” has a lot of truth to it. People who like who I am are more likely to want to do business with me. And if they don’t, they will find the company they identify better with.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our best source of new clients has always been referrals and word of mouth. When someone lands a great job or new client, they tell their friends and family. And when a business makes a great hire, they usually tell other business owners. They share in Facebook groups as well. Sometimes, we’ll get 40 or 50 new requests for our Facebook group within a few hours of someone talking about our service in another group. And having this Facebook Community gives them a chance to learn more and see others who have had success on HireMyMom. We also tend to get a lot of organic traffic from google searches when someone searches for work from home options or moms looking for remote work.
