We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Leonardo Moleiro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Leonardo, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since childhood I never had doubts that I wanted to be a painter and creative, I wanted to be immersed in the world of artistic ideas. Everything that was art
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I knew I wanted to paint from a very young age. I was always painting in my room and looked at the art books constantly looking for inspiration. I started selling posters illustrated by me to my classmates in primary school.
Always look for my own style, not only in the artistic proposal, also in what the work will communicate. Work and studies every time, I think I can have my own language through my forms and color.
I currently work in my style I call graphic cubism, always inspired by the woman I call in my work fairy from the Sirius star with which I have conversations through the work itself.
I work in my work since 1992 when I decided to paint more academic and professional. I had the opportunity to share my passion for my work with the career of Creative Director profession that caught me from a young age and thank God I could get them very well.
I currently continue exercising both creative forms in perfect balance since each one helps each other.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Uff!!, being an artist is a very difficult decision and living that too.
I think that the most important thing is to get used to rejection, constructive and destructive criticism, to the constant struggle to improve your work, to seek opportunities.
I believe that the most important thing is to understand that art needs a lot of hard work time, that muses do not exist and that only daily work in your work can give it the quality and weight you want and that if you are not prepared for a long path full of frustrations is better that you focus on something easier and simple hehehe
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The public’s reaction to your work. Reacation can be good or bad but that if you know how to understand and use as an object of inspiration, it is wonderful
