We recently connected with Leonardo Chora and have shared our conversation below.
Leonardo , appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
even though I started my art career a little later in my life. I think I did star at the right time.
because before, I only painted and did graffiti just for fun.
It had no meaning for me. It was just another task in my day.
but little by little, it became a part of my life that I wanted to share.
but I was unsure of my art skills where there
So I focus a lot on improving everything.
and thats why I like that I started my art career late.
Before, when I was young, I dint really care much about what I was doing.
but now everything matters to me in my paintings.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My alias is Stink/Stinkypunk. (My real name is Leonardo.) I am a Los Angeles-based artist. I have been creating art and graffiti for about 15 years. It started with only graffiti.
Now I try to focus more on canvases, but I still work on graffiti.
My graffiti work combines the traditional graffiti form with a little hint of modern art.
using perspective, treating every lettler as a separate entity.
and trying to focus on themes for my letters, and I like to integrate eyes
because they are really expressive
My canvas work is more about free forms becoming a life.
Chaos is the main ingredient, but I also take lots of inspiration.
from cartoons, the unreal, and nature
Nowadays, I’m exploring new art forms like sculpture, digital art, and animation.
installation and photography
And right now, my main goal is to push my work all over the place.
and that’s why I would like to thank you for this opportunity.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding things about being an artist and being around artists How can one problem be solved in so many different ways
You truly get to experience how other artists see the world.
also the opportunity to express thoughts, emotions, and ideas.
through paintings
Connecting with other people
and of course, personal growth by overcoming challenges.
becoming better at your craft and seeing your own evolution
Through your painting, that’s rewarding.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I think NFT is a really important thing to happen. between art and technology, with most of today’s technology.
The new artists tend to choose digital art.
and for the most part, theres no real store or place where you can showcase
Your work as an art piece, yeah sure, we have social media, but it’s not the same.
as being part of an art show or gallery
NFT is getting there; it still needs a lot of work, but I think it’s heading in the right direction.
I’ve been thinking about whether I should get into NFT, but I’m not sure.
One of the other aspects I like about NFT is the new revenue stream.
been capable of monetizing digital art.
But on the other hand, I’m not a huge fan of the environmental impact.
the hype and the market saturation
