We were lucky to catch up with Leonard Manning recently and have shared our conversation below.

Leonard, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Endearment Studios came from my deep love for music. The music I create is therapy for me each beat and song tells a story of how I feel about someone or something. One day in Iraq on my deployment I wanted a name representing how I felt about music. Endearment was the perfect word that describe everything.

Leonard, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I was born and raised in Compton, CA since I was a baby I have been fascinated with sounds from having jam sessions with my grandpa and cousins to playing the piano at grandma on my mom’s side. Fast forward to what started it all when I was young, my cousins had a rap group that was producing and creating songs. One day I came over and my cousin was using Reason 1.0 at that time which was a new program at the time. As soon as he let me play around with the program I’ve been hooked ever since. From all the experiences over the years from my first sale of $1000 for twenty beats to two college degrees. I’m at a level where I dreamed of being when I was young. I can now produce industry-standard beats and engineer. I also sing and publish my own music under my company Endearment Studios LLC. The services I offer currently are beat-making, mixing, and mastering services. I want my clients to have the best-sounding music. I want to enhance their music and make it even better. I’m proud of what I have accomplished so far but still have more to learn. I hope the younger me will be proud of me.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

The funding of the business took years to get in total for all the equipment and plug-ins I paid over 10k to obtain everything that was needed to be successful. No loans or outside investments just my hard-earned money.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

At a young age, I was told I wasn’t going to be anything why produce music? I took that as motivation and I am succeeding from producing multiple artist’s songs to having my own studio equipment. Regardless of what was thrown at me I kept going. I learned very young that people’s negative opinions don’t mean anything to me so why dwell on it?
