We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Leon Araujo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Leon, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Our mission is to offer an unforgettable experience to our clients. We are assured that what we offer is made with care and affection for each and every one of our clients.
The best way to thank them for their support is to give them the best of us.
Leon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For the industry where we are located, all the details are important. The products, the customer service, the presentation of the food and/or drinks, the location of the establishment, the atmosphere, among others.
One of the biggest challenges is to satisfy the guest’s expectations, these are daily challenges.
This is why we dedicate a lot of time and care to our primary ingredients. The process of coffee roasting, for example, is very important to us. The quality of our coffee beans bears our brand, it is our representation of the respect we have for coffee.
We are proud of our accomplishments after years in the industry and are pioneers in Ogden when it comes to specialty coffee culture.
It is the result of the combined effort of a good cup of coffee and a good plate of food.
In gratitude to our community, we are committed to continuing to innovate and create prestige for our name, Coffee Links today is recognized as an excellent place to enjoy the best specialty coffee in the Ogden area. We have two locations, one in Ogden and one in South Ogden.
Without a doubt, one of the biggest problems has been finding the work team. Reflecting a work culture at work is not easy and like many local businesses. The lack of enthusiasm in the staff, absences, indifference and encouraging our workers to create a human relationship with our clients is not easy.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I remember that during the time of the pandemic and months later, some of our clients asked us how everything was going? Some even donated cash or checks to support us during this period.
This is and will be one of the passages that I will never forget. These are the times when hope returns for the true feeling and compassion of people towards others.
For me it represents the feeling of solidarity in hard times, it is when you think that you should not give up and move forward.
In reciprocity, I always have the desire to help my employees be better and give that extra. That makes us different from most large companies.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I like to think that someone can be inspired by us to become an entrepreneur. However, the reality is very different. Not everyone will have the courage and strength to dedicate themselves full time to a company and we understand that this happens.
It’s a bittersweet feeling, seeing people excited about starting a business and almost being able to predict the future. It is not criticism, it is simply understanding that not everyone is born with the energy to focus on their goals and give up in a short or medium time.
