We recently connected with Leo Sandoval and have shared our conversation below.

Leo , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I realized that music is something that I wanted to do professionally after going through a very unpleasant experience when I lost my husband to cancer, it is not only the pain and tears that come after an event like this but also the sadness. and the Frieving.

I felt that people didn’t understand why I was so angry with life, or why I acted the way I did.

That is why through music I thought it would be easier to show them my experience and for them to understand a little more about everything I had to go through and experience, in this way they would have more empathy for the pain of others, not just for mine, but also for other who have lost a loved one.

It really was a great impact for my followers and the people who knew about my experience when they saw my first music video telling my story and I saw a huge change in them towards me, after seeing what I showed them they were able to understand me a little more .

That’s how I knew that music is something I want to keep doing every day of my life.

Leo , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Leo Sandoval. I’m someone who never stops dreaming. I was born and raised in a very small town in Zacatecas Mexico, at the age of 13 my family and I decided to come to the United States for a better life. I always knew I was different, but I also knew I wanted to be different, I didn’t want to be like everyone else. I remember watching telenovelas and singers performing in tv shows and then I knew I wanted to do that, I wanted to be like them, to be inside the tv like they did, I wanted people to know me, to know who I was, to know my name. I just didn’t know how I was going to do that.

I’m a singer, content creator, and an influencer but before all these achievements I have done anything and everything and I’m proud of it because it helped me to realize that you have to fight and work hard for what you want in life, I worked cleaning offices when I was a teenager with my sister, I also worked in McDonald’s for several years, until I felt that I was capable of doing much more, one day I decided that I wanted to do it and I took some classes to become a nurse assistant which I finished in one month.

Working as a nurse assistant was something that I enjoyed very much but also felt like it wasn’t fulfilling me and once again I wanted more, after working in nursing homes for 5 years I pushed myself to try something else, here is where I took the adventure to work in the makeup industry the retail world, allowing me to work for companies like It Cosmetics and Tom Ford, introducing me to the world of Social media where all the magic started.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I have gone thru so much to accomplish what I have, when I started doing social media I did it with the help and support of my husband, we encountered so much love and support but also we found discrimination and homophobia in the social media world. By experiencing this, I wanted to quit many times but having my husband by my side helped me continue with this journey, he pushed me and I’m glad he did I’m glad he encouraged me to keep fighting. Before I started with Social media I wanted to be Famous, to be known, and maybe have lots of money to be able to afford and get anything that I wanted. Once I started growing and gaining followers and getting to know them my desires and my way of thinking changed. I found myself getting to know women who were fighting against cancer and that changed my route and it changed my life.

My husband Walter and I started helping them, by creating packages that included a wig and a makeup kit. It was important for us to make sure that women fighting against cancer did it feeling beautiful and strong wearing their wigs and makeup.

The way I was introduced to music was a way that I never expected.

Back in 2019 life played me dirty, my husband Walter Ramos was diagnosed with cancer and in three months he lost the fight against it.

Losing my husband was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced, I found myself fighting against a very strong depression and anxiety, and I just I wanted to give up, I didn’t want to continue with life, social media, or anything else thankfully the right people surrounded me and they came together to help me get up with their love and support, my family, my Followers, and my friends fought together with me.

That is when I met a music writer, she wrote my first song called “Siempre Viviras En Mi” which Means you will always live in me. It tells the story of my husband and me, and what we went thru when he got sick,

By singing this song I showed people, my followers all my experience I wanted them to see and maybe they would understand me a little better, thats how I knew that music was going to become something very important for me.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

absolutely , I want to reach more people with my music and lyrics , I want to touch their hearts and their souls . my second song “Falsa Sociedad” is a Spanish word that actually translates to “False Society.” just reached 15 million views on Facebook ,Backed by euphonious laid-back melodies dominated by the keyboard, “Falsa Sociedad” speaks against the prejudice and homophobia visited upon the LGBTQ community by the so-called ‘righteous’ and religious people who seem to set the standards for people’s existence and choices! I want to continue creating what i like which is music
