We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lentina Rogers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lentina , thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents were forward thinkers. They had the ability to dream outside of what was in front of them. They had the ambition to achieve and believe in theirselves. They planted healthy thoughts and ideas and strong work ethics in their Children. I was the oldest child and a lot was expected from me. I naturally possessed all the qualities to carry out the assignments they instilled in me. Without hesitation I accepted responsibility, accountability, tenacity, trust, and integrity. The self respect that was modeled by my mother and the confident she poured into me, created a confident, persistent, witty, caring person. All of my life experiences shaped and inspired how She Became Me, on purpose and with purpose. I believe some leaders are made and some leaders are born, but as a born leader that was made to strive. That is what continues to drive me in my current journey.
•My Dad thought me to be well rounded
He taught me how to play checkers, how to play all kinds of card games. He taught me how to network through sports. I played softball, volleyball, track and basketball. He was a softball coach for many years. Through that position I watched him managed personally and how to connect with others and how to fellowship in your community
•My Mother model how to be independent and how to be a lady. She always demonstrated self respect and was adamant about people will accept what you project. How to be emotionally strong and how to get along even if they did you wrong, I eventually saw that forgiveness and self love was the key to happiness.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a compassionate individual who loves to be kind, inspiring and supportive of others. I am grateful for God’s grace and mercy in my life.
I’m super excited to be a serial entrepreneur and living out my dreams out loud. I have multiple businesses. Each one lets me explore, express and expand all of my gifts, skills and talents.
I am a empath who wants to encourage others through authorship, friendship and relationships. By giving different avenues of business opportunities to interact with the community. I believe my skills are meant to be used and shared with others. My hope is to inspire others by being an example and a beckon of hope. It doesn’t matter what business or reason you might encounter me. I want to leave you in better condition than you Came into my space. As I realize my purpose, it is imperative to enhance your quality of life through human experience’s. Supplies, products and services are vital but humanity is essential. Remember people need people in some form or fashion.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
You might know you are strong but you never know how strong or resilient you are until you have to prove it to yourself. Some things you can hide from others but you can never hide from self.
Resilience is all about the ability of self love, self awareness and self acceptance.
In my work experiences, I have learned that your best may not be good enough. Resilience is made through pushing yourself forward while enduring negative energy, environment and experiences.
Embracing pain and creating an emotional shield to deflect, deflate and destroy negativity in the moment. Realizing you are the master of your mind.
Falling from grace as a teenage Mother. Becoming a Divorced Mom of 4 boys. Getting fired from a job you were great at. Having a child with challenging behaviors. Not having a role model. Having no choice but to believe, become or break, will mold your resilience. Through out my challenges I built character, deepened my faith, and broadened my horizon. Most of all believing in myself despite obstacles. Resilience is my ability to remind myself that She was always me and I was always her. The journey of self.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn that it was ok to get out!
Get out of the habits that your family may have justified. Get out of the culture of your environment. Get out of stereotypes others push on you. Get out of society expectations and social norms.
Unlearning can be scary. You usually will be alone. Shamed, guilted, bullied and abandoned, however you must be willing to get out of your comfort zone. Becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable will open the door to your destiny. That is where you will find your peace, happiness and wholeness. Finding your authentic unique self is getting out.
Becoming an author was my gateway to getting out. I had so many silent moments, that getting out was my only choice. When it becomes more painful to stay in the same position. Getting out will bring relief, renew and restore the path forward. When you get out don’t look back, just take a bow, welcome to the awakening you’ve crossed over now🤗
