We recently connected with Lenice Colangelo and have shared our conversation below.
Lenice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
In my early years my parents gave sketchbooks with blank pages to me and my brother during our family long road trips. we would draw in these sketchbooks using our imagination. We were never given coloring books. I thank my parents for that. Drawing and writing in a sketchbook became a way of life for me.

Lenice, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I am working on a piece of paper , canvas, etc., I want to fill the area with “marks” that excite me. I like to be bold when creating my “marks” using charcoal, sumo ink, acrylics, etc. in describing the human form or landscape. I work quickly using my whole body to create a rhythm. I look for relationships between my shapes to the surrounding shapes to create a homogenous rhythm and design.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding g aspect of my being an artist is my total enjoyment of the creating. I want to “dance” through my experience of developing my art pieces and become fulfilled with the usual innuendoes.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of my goals is to think out of the box and become more bold in my marks etc. I have these ideas of creating sculptural drawings/ paintings that capture one’s EYE.
