We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lenajah Gaither a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lenajah , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Before I took photography seriously, I used to perfect my craft daily by practicing with family and friends as my guinea pigs. As time progressed and I gained confidence in pursuing photography full-time, I would often hear, “Oh snap, these images are fire!” After hearing those words repeatedly, God gave me an “aha” moment and placed the name right in my lap.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
From a young age, my dream was always to be a model. However, I began to wonder what it would be like to be on the opposite side of the camera. I’ve always loved capturing moments—both of others and myself—throughout my adolescence. No matter what I did to stray away from photography, I always found myself drawn back behind the camera.
After graduating college with a degree in Digital Photography, I knew this was more than just a hobby—it was my passion. Through my work, I inspire my clients to be themselves and to leave their sessions feeling confident and empowered. I specialize in family portraits, birthday shoots, business headshots, various events, and more.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea that photography is a linear profession. In reality, it’s a journey filled with ups and downs—more like a rollercoaster ride. There are days when self-doubt creeps in, but I’ve learned that growth comes from continuous learning and adaptation. Photography is an ever-evolving craft, and each experience teaches me something new. Most importantly, I’ve learned to embraced the fact that my unique style is what differentiates me and attracts the right clients. Understanding this has allowed me to fully own my creative voice and trust the process.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is walking out of the studio knowing my clients are not only pleased with their images but also feeling more confident and empowered. Photography is more than just capturing moments—it’s about helping people see the best version of themselves. Seeing their excitement when they view their photos, knowing I played a role in boosting their self-esteem, is truly fulfilling. Additionally, building genuine connections with my clients and creating timeless memories for them makes this journey even more meaningful. Each session is an opportunity to tell a story, celebrate individuality, and leave a lasting impact.
