We were lucky to catch up with Lelanea Fulton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lelanea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I focus on co-creative projects that truly align with the authentic voices of my clients. The market is oversaturated with a homogenous voice in the art meets marketing realm that really mutes that of the client, ultimately creating noise. I prefer to use my background in Integrative consciousness coaching and consulting to isolate the client’s voice and defined directions to co-create a message that is truly in alignment with the authenticity of the client and the combination of my artistic expression via this medium when we work together. When I combine a deep dive via my coaching method, I find the client and I can sincerely isolate and extract their voice that allows them to stand out.
Lelanea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a former NYC fashion/editorial/advertising photographer with a fine art background and approach to my style. I attended New York City’s International Center of Photography and The School of Visual Arts, focusing on film, large & medium format photography, and digital retouching. I work in mixed-medium compensations of film and digital, weaved together to encapsulate and evoke a sense of place and being, often with an ethereal and romantic dream-like playfulness that feels reminiscent of my childhood daydreams and fantasies that were used to escape, grow, learn, expand and understand myself. Despite my formal education, I have sought not to stray from these primal expressions.
During my education at ICP, I worked as a Sommelière in NYC’s most prestigious establishments. I now live in Oregon, photographing the art of the region’s domestic wineries, people, and vineyards, still intrigued with conveying a sense of place, now through photography rather than as that of a floor sommelier.
Aside from my work as a Photographer, I also have a decade-long background in Brand Development, Brand Growth, Strategic Conceptualization, and a focus on “Authentic” and “Organic” marketing. I use my education and background in Integrative Consciousness coaching to find explore the soul of a brand to better echo its voice into the ether.
My clients vary from fashion brands, art & photography publications to wineries and marketing/ad agencies.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I wish these questions were more esoteric and depth driven but we will go with this one.
My creativity is driven by the intention to expand as a spiritual being having a human experience catapulted through the art of emotions. Every art form is to invoke, evoke, and test the edges of our emotions, to foster expansion. We, architects of the provocation of expansion have created such beautiful means to serve as pattern disrupters and catalysts of creation. It is my journey to remain as raw and unmolested as possible, channeling my inner creative child to express, learn from and relish in. It is my mission to bring this playfulness to my clients and to deeply explore their raw authenticity so that we can co-create together and harness something truly unique to them, their brand and our collaboration.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
the exploration of myself and pushing my own boundaries that ultimately lends itself to learning more about myself. There is a deep vulnerability in offering my art to benefit others, to be in service of others, and though that vulnerability I find deep friendships and alignment with like-minded individuals and communities so more than anything, this medium has allowed me to connect and grow in relationship with others and that has no price point on it. It’s invaluable.
