Alright, Leland thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

Thank you for having me! It all started when I was seven years old, when my mom asked my sister and I if we were interested in participating in a theatre camp. We performed The Sound of Music and I was cast as Kurt Von Trapp. The following summer, I played the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, which is when I fell in love with acting. I continued my passion for musical theatre and still do it today. Watching a variety of movies inspired me to explore acting in films. I enrolled in an acting school and upon graduating from the teen acting division, I signed with an agent. From then on, I was hooked and decided to pursue acting in films professionally. For three years, I have been acting on screen with various amazing projects, all has been an incredible experience.

Leland , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hello all, my name is Leland Mergillano, I am a junior in high school and dual enrolled college student. I come from a family of 4, my parents and older sister along with 3 pets, a dog, cat and bird, and have been raised with Christian values. Music has been instilled in me since I was a baby, my mom is a piano player and has played classical music close to me since I was born.

My inspiration is: My family and music.

Art/Creative Works: I began my journey at a young age with piano lessons and performing onstage. I later took up choir, theatre, and learned to play the ukulele, Tahitian drumming, and harmonica, performing at various festivals, venues, and resorts in Florida. Today, I continue to perform in musical theatre productions, act in films, do voiceovers, and appear in commercials, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Focus: Focus on your craft is essential, and its worth becomes evident when you see improvements. There’s always room to learn and grow, and with time, you’ll notice the progress you’ve made. Watching my fellow actor friends grow alongside me has been exciting, and I look forward to continuing our journey together in this industry.

Mission: Acting is an art form that unites people despite their differences, motivating me as an actor. In my acting career, I aspire to positively impact lives and bring people closer together through the arts. Faith and dedication can lead to meaningful change.

In addition to acting, I initiated a project to support senior citizens with tech needs such as computers and phone apps. I am also committed to raising awareness about life-threatening food allergies.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Acting itself is an art, and art is something that brings people together, despite our differences, and that is something that drives me as an actor. My main goal is to first graduate high school then college, working towards a degree in either computer engineering or Aviation. Travel the world and to continue and broaden my journey and passion for acting.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

What I find most rewarding in this industry is the opportunity to bring smiles to people’s faces! I love seeing people enjoy and connect through art. The chance to work alongside gifted actors and be a part of creating a memorable experience for audiences is truly empowering and a constant reminder of the impact we can have on making the world a better place.
