We were lucky to catch up with Leisha Anders recently and have shared our conversation below.
Leisha, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I believe in risk taking. One moment can change your life. Taking this risk increased the quality of my world. I have a history of mental health challenges living with anxiety, ptsd, and daily tears. So, I took a risk and created my Drumeditation with Chakra Chanting. The vibrational medicine immediately supported my anxiety. After a couple weeks of practicing, the energy from my daily tears were recycled into my visual art and alternative health practices.
A huge change in my ptsd took place and that gave me the energy to share with others. This happened around 2019 and I thank God I found this practice before the Corona Virus shut down the world. It was working and it gave me hope. Then after Mr. Floyd’s public loss of life along with others that year, I experienced a mental break. I practiced being gentle with myself and decided this vibrational medicine was my path. I became obsessed to deepen my practice with others post Rona.
I started to practice with the public once we were able to go out with masks in yoga studios, corporate mtgs./retreats and private homes. When I saw how it was helping others reach a deep state of relaxation, I thought I would take another risk and reach out to the FDA for support to possibly share with the public on a larger scale. That showed me I had a lot of Drumeditations to practice for approval. So, after a move out of state for my mental health, I returned home to Dallas to go for it! The “vibe” is getting out there and I know now it is a risk worth taking.

Leisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I identify as an Alternative Health Educator and a survivor. I received my certification and license to practice massage therapy 25 years ago. I have been percussionist for 30 plus years and a visual artist for longer. I received my Chi Nei Tsang certification 20 years ago and that is when I started to teach and educate others on eastern disciplines.
My mental health led me to use the word alternative because I have integrated all of my life experiences with my unconventional practices. I share my electromagnetic excitation, art, vibration, deep meditation with live drumming, and breath work with qigong. My patrons have communicated a deep state of relaxation was obtained and their joint pain was decreased significantly following the completion of the practices.. They also felt lighter physically while enjoying a more quiet mind.
With my Lei’shu workshops and retreats I include handouts that encourage people to draw and paint the anatomy that address where we feel our pain and challenges. For example, I draw a brain to acknowledge my mental health challenges. The collaboration that takes place when we come together for healing geeks me out! All these practices plus more are included in my retreats. I also created an Art Workbook for Wellness, that shares my story while introducing the eastern theory that helps me and others to heal by connecting us to nature.
Another piece of this healing journey is my visual art which is all about love. I draw one charcoal drawing a day expressing my “love practice” in honor of the love still flowing for my late little brother. He loved my art and that is something I am quite proud of. His image is in every piece of art I create and that love is shared with everyone I know and meet.
The main thing I want my potential clients, followers and participants to know about me is it’s all about the healing. Healing is contagious. Constipation, neck/shoulder tension, and low back stiffness is my focus on helping others and I am happy to say the feed back has been inspiring. I believe group chi can change the world. I use multiple hands on practices, energy work, spoken word, visual art, qigong, vibration, laughter, and stillness to support others on their rejuvenating path.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Since my first Savasana, 2018, everyone stated they do not understand how live drumming can be relaxing. That was five years ago! When I tell you no one thought that this was a good idea, “maybe do chimes or the sound bowls.” Only after a Drumeditation did I see the positive physical results myself in the participants. That gave me enough chutzpah to believe I can make a difference in this world. My resilience shined when I reached out for spaces to share with others in the beginning. One submission, one rejection. 10 submissions, 10 rejections. 35 submissions, 35 rejections. Number 36 gave me the opportunity to share with you today.
Believe in yourself. I’m a more mature woman who has started over more than once with my career choices. Never stop believing in yourself!

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The one thing that has been most helpful in my success, beyond my training in this field, is the education I received from my late mulatto grandmother. She taught me not all 2 legged’s care about others and our tree cousins will never let me down. She would tell me, when I feel my emotions swell inside, the sadness, the joy and excitement, walk in the grass barefooted and thank the mother that you can feel. That sensitivity is a gift that I share with my clients.
