We were lucky to catch up with Leila Nicolee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Leila, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents taught me to always be thankful for what you have and to work hard for the things you want in life. Sometimes we get so caught up in creating the future it can actually slow us down. We’re always reaching for the next level and I think it’s important to take the time to appreciate how far you’ve come and where you’re currently at. That is something that has humbled me throughout my career for sure.
Leila, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Leila Nicolee, I’m 24, a mother of 2 kings, and a model signed with PMTM Agency. I took my first step towards my modeling career with freelance Modeling in 2021. Just a year later I was walking down the runway in LA fashion week and then officially signed soon after. Modeling has always been a top career topic throughout friends, families, and random strangers that would see me on the street. There is a moment in the beginning of my career when I started to let society define my beauty. I didn’t think I had what it takes to reach my dreams but thanks to my supporters, family and friends, I have overcome that struggle. I strive to show I’m more than just a pretty face so I use my platform to advocate, body positivity and mental health. I want to inspire my followers and fans that never too late to take that first step towards your dreams, to always love yourself, stay true to yourself, and that your hard work will always pay off.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission throughout my Modeling career is to spread body positivity and advocate for mental health. I was once that little staring at the TV waiting to see somebody who looks like me in the spotlight. I know what it feels like to have a requirement built by society you feel like you can’t meet. Being able to be that inspiration to others all over the world is something I will never take for granted.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is knowing I put my all into my work and reading messages from followers telling me their success stories. I make it a point that my work tells a story and I’m so proud of the reach it has made.
