We were lucky to catch up with Lei Renee recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lei, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.

When I was younger I was always interested in the entertainment business. I watched many of my family members go the Artist route and never continue. I figured I would be that one. I am an artist so I will always learn no matter how much experience I ever consider myself having.

I have learned a lot as far as the business aspect through trial in error, losing money or not even earning money for my craft was mistake I made in my early stages. However as far as my craft in singing and as an artist as a whole I would have to shoutout my team Dopepens for allowing me to be myself during the process of my artist development. They have taught me many things about singing and honing my craft as an artist as a whole.

I think having an open mind and the willingness to learn is essential in and skill you have. Being patient is the skill, you have the talent the skill is staying the course during the process. I have had many road blocks as far as confidence, believing in myself and even relationship problems. I had to self reflect on what I wanted for my life and I knew that I will not find true happiness if I do not walk in my purpose. If I would have given as much time and energy to myself in when I started as I did to others I would be further. However, I do believe in timing. Things happen when they are supposed to happen. So we are here now.

Lei, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For those who do not know me, I am a singer songwriter from Gaithersburg Maryland. I served in the military, I’ve worked at a juvenile detention center and I believe my way to reach people of all ages is through communication. As you can tell, my preferred communication is through music. I would say my clients are my fans, my supporters, my listeners. The problems I want to solve for them everyday is just simply showing them that whatever they believe in, they too can go for it. I believe I am driven enough to lead by example and as people we should exude light and positivity in all that we do. So I’m here to serve that.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I have been working on my social medial presence for years. It is not where I would like it to be, but it is what it is for what I have created on my own. Im grateful for the tools that youtube, Instagram and Facebook gives us influencers. Marketing is key, finding the best company to market your brand is important.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

The main thing that drives me is what I feel inside. The way I feel inside is unfinished. What I mean is, my work on this earth is not done. I feel that we all have a mission and a purpose either that is to serve others or to be the main character in whatever it is you’re doing in life. I feel like my goal is to provide an example of coming from nothing to having something and showing others that staying the course only leads to success. Being an example, showing positive ways from negative things, taking harder routes for bigger outcomes. You know.
