We recently connected with LegendofLinc and have shared our conversation below.
LegendofLinc, thanks for joining us! Excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started songwriting at the age of 9. It actually came pretty natural to me. I guess since I had listened to so much music, I understood what made an artist polarizing ; great lyrics, catchy hooks & exceptional vocal performance.
Once I figured that out, the next part was finding the words to express myself. I give a lot of credit to pop culture for inspiring my music. I could turn a popular movie character into a metaphor. I could provide lyrics that share relevancy with a current event. By looking outside of myself, I saw that I was able to take my creativity to the next level.
Awesome! So before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
For those of you who don’t know me, I go by the artist name of Linc. I started investing into my music career six years ago right before I graduated college. My primary skills in the music industry are vocal recording & songwriting. I have an eclectic musical background through my various experiences within the genres of Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, Gospel, Jazz, etc…
LegendofLinc is my brand, which is lightly influenced by the popular video game franchise, The Legend of Zelda. Most importantly, this brand specifically pays homage to my great grandfather, Lincoln Berry.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to make a significant impact within the music industry as an artist and songwriter. The great thing about the music industry is that you can easily shift your roles in order to make the record great! Sometimes I can focus solely on writing. Other times, I can focus on recording and giving production feedback. The more skills I obtain, the more valuable I will become to other artists, producers, labels, etc.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think having full accountability of your successes and your failures is the greatest thing about being an artist. While you do work with a team, you are on an island when it comes to your product; the music. If people don’t like your music, you have to change something about it. Nobody else on your team can do that for you. You have to figure it out!
When it comes to success, you have to be prepared with the expectations that come with it. As you get more successful, people will want more of your time and energy. Keeping yourself grounded to handle the success is a challenge, but it’s so rewarding.
