Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leeza Ochsner . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Leeza, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
While every copywriter’s job is to deliver copy that connects and converts, I take an experiential approach to website copywriting that looks at how strategy, copy and design work together to create a memorable website experience that connects and converts.
As a result, my copywriting process involves in-depth market research, brand strategy development, and implementation support to effectively translate the brand experience my clients want their target audience to have online.
Leeza, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Of course, I’d be happy to. The truth is, if you had asked me this question three years ago, I would have answered it very differently. However, after a decade of climbing one corporate ladder after the next, I realized that my dream copywriting job wasn’t exactly what I hoped it would be. Eventually, all the stress and burnout caught up with me and left me even more disconnected from my purpose and myself.
So, in February of 2020, I finally found the courage to step away from corporate life as I knew it and launched Freshly Brewed Copy to help impact-driven business owners intentionally scale their businesses with experiential website copywriting.
Whether launching a site or crafting monthly blog content, I love collaborating with business owners on meaningful ways to transform their business. And nothing gets me more excited and out of bed quicker every morning (except for coffee, of course) than seeing courageous entrepreneurs find the clarity, confidence, and calm they’ve been missing as a direct result of the transformation.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Honestly, the art of selling hasn’t always come naturally to me. When I was just starting as a copywriter, a big part of me preferred to hide behind a screen and stay out of the selling spotlight.
Of course, that little fantasy didn’t last long when I was sent to one of the largest tradeshow events to sell in person. Within a few hours of being at the trade show, I realized the reason I feared sales is because I thought I had to be the hero in the story. When in reality, sales had very little to do with me and everything to do with listening, connecting, and providing genuine value for my customers.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
In my experience, every client I’ve worked with is passionate and talented at what they do. However, unlike me, their passion typically doesn’t involve copywriting. Yet it’s a skill they need to have in order to successfully grow their business.
So, I’ve made it my mission to not only help entrepreneurs positively transform their brands with experiential website copywriting, but find the clarity, confidence, and calm they need to thrive in business and in life.
