Hi Leeon, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

The mission of my business is to provide women with the tools to be in the driving seat of their own lives, starting with their business. I grew up in a one-income household and saw my mom being a housewife for years and doing odd jobs to make up financially. She and my dad raised 9 kids and she prioritized education as a way to get out of poverty but it was only after I spent 5 years in law school and 2 years in corporate that I realized that education alone wasn’t enough. It was just the beginning. To truly be in the driving seat of your own life, you needed to be in control of your income source, not wait for an opportunity to fall in your lap. Instead you had to go out and create your own opportunity. This is what I did when I launched my Marketing Agency The Content Magnet in 2019. I learned a profitable skill (digital marketing) then I created a business around it, using little start up costs and focusing on leveraging social media to grow an audience and attract paying clients. 7 months into my business, I matched my corporate salary and then went on to doubling it. Now I can say I’m in the driving seat of my life. What I do and who I work with isn’t dependent on what I’m being paid. Instead, I focus on my purpose, passions and created a business to support that.

Leeon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Currently I provide social media marketing services to small and medium business owners. I do this via 1:1 coaching/consulting where we meet on a weekly basis and I help you create content that grows your brand awareness and helps you sign clients on a weeky business using social media.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

When it comes to funding your business, there’s 2 resources in play. You can do like what I did. Purchase an affordable course and hope it helps then still have to spend over 3 months piecing together all the information needed to launch and grow your online business.

Or, you can cut your time in half and get customized strategy and support by hiring a coach. For example, if you were to join my 1:1 Coaching program, we’ll create an action plan for you to launch your business, create content consistently and attract new clients weekly. You won’t have to read hundreds of blogs, watch hundreds of youtube videos etc, all you’ll need to do is commit and show up to the coaching calls.

The choice you decide is totally up to you. I did the first option first but 6 months in when I started making some money in my business, I did the second option and invested to work with a coach who helped me grow my business even faster.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

One of the books that I read that helped me transition from corporate to entrepreneurship is Jump by Steve Harvey. This book changed my life. It made me realize that up until I was 25 years old, I followed all the rules of life. I got straight A’s, went to university then law school, got called to the bar, got a job then I was still unhappy and unfulfilled. Then when I read Jump by Steve Harvey, it taught me that to truly live a life filled with abundance, you need to take a leap of faith. You need to take massive action that may have you feeling like you’re failing then you will find your parachute and truly soar into a life of abundance. This is when I decided that it was time for me to take entrepreneurship seriously. I showed up to networking events with other entrepreneurs. I asked questions, did research and slowly decided that it was time for me to step out as an entrepreneur.
The best part about this concept is that once you take a leap, you will eventually land safely but soon you’ll find yourself taking a leap for another aspect of your life. Then you’ll wake up one day and see abundance in every area of your life.
