Lee, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Our mission has always been to give volume to the black voices in the entertainment industry! Black independent voices, that would otherwise be muffled in the background! We want to put the independent creative first! Because, we know we can’t compete with celebrity, but we can work hard to make it a fight! Our platform is for the podcaster, the artist, the business, the creative, who feels their art never gets noticed! We want to shine a bright light on them all! And, we do this by being on every platform possible! This is our mission, this will always be our mission! Giving black voices volume!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We started our mission by accident, 5 years ago! We were a radio show, that suddenly needed a home to broadcast from, after a dispute with a previous owner! And, to prevent from having to deal with such things again, we created our own platform! Upon, creating the platform, we noticed that other creatives wanted and needed a platform to express themselves unedited, and we wanted to give them that platform! We started with live streaming radio, but quickly went into podcasting, then added live streaming video! Now we do all 3 simultaneously, and with out any editing! We have always felt live streaming was the future of podcasting and will add more viewers and supporters quicker! So, we offer, Radio live streaming, podcast live steaming, and video live streaming, via all major social media and podcasting platforms. We also have a ROKU channel that adds to the exposure! We can distribute podcast, we can live stream video and visuals for artists! We offer interviews and radio rotation for music artists, as well as other creatives! We have openings for new podcasts and radio shows! We are a one stop shop for all!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

During Covid we had to pivot from in person interviews to interviews via Zoom! The problem came in with trying to obtain the audio for live steaming via the radio station, and recording the audio for podcast placement! We had to learn on the fly, and solve the problems, and they arise live and in living color! But, it was a learning experience, that we wouldn’t change for anything! Now we can live stream from any streaming platform video and audio simultaneously with out any real issues!

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

My co-founders are Reka and Donna! Donna is CEO AND Reka is CSMO we all met via Reka she was friends with us both, and put us all together! Donna was doing a radio show, and needed a DJ, and Reka thought I would be a good fit! So, we tried it once, and it was fun, so we kept the dynamic going! Once the old radio station asked us to leave, we all decided to start Misfits Media Group LLC. And Misfits Radio & TV LLC. As a collective group of like minded entrepreneurs! And, 5 years later we are going strong!
