Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ledicia Sola. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ledicia, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project of my career was deciding to write my own show. I wrote a one woman show called “Divina” where I deconstructed the actress I had been constructing for 20 years. I always wanted to write and tell my own stories but I was completely focused on my acting career and I had no time for a personal and creative process. I moved from Madrid to Santiago de Compostela (a smaller town) in order to have a less intense social live, shut down the noise and be more free to decide where to put my energy. I did so, and that changed my life completely. After “Divina” I wrote another two shows with two colleagues and the script for my first feature film thah now I´m about to start filming. So, writing my own show was a life and career changing decision.
Ledicia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I´m a curious and creative person interested in many different crafts. I´m an experienced actress that worked in the industry for 25 years in Tv, fim and theatre. My career has been very eclectic as I worked with very different professionals from the most comercial shows to the most extremely alternative theatre companies. I also wrote three shows for theatre, and now I´m focused on writing and directing my first feature film.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think sometimes we have different aproaches to what being succesful means. For me, succes has nothing to do with fame or money. That doesn´t mean I don´t aim for those, what I mean is that I cannot focus on that to develop my art. Freedom is a huge way of being succesful and in order to be free you need to be a little bit outside of the regular standars of society. You need to question almost everything and be an uncomfortable person sometimes.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I think my goal is just to share the journey. I love to comunicate with others. Finding people you can talk to about the issues that worry everyone of us. I´ve been searching for a comunity all my life. I struggle between being an outsider and finding my own place in the world, and I have the feeling that I´m not the only one.
