We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Leda Beatriz Dubbs a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Leda Beatriz, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Photography is one of my hobbies. All started when a friend who is a entrepreneur advice me to print my photos, I started looking for something more original than Canvas or Metal printing, I saw the Laser Engraving option, I taught myself how to do it and give it a try. The same friend asked me for Father Days items to sell at her shop, I made some, she got sold out, I made more, and started to grow. A customer in tat shop asked to customized one of those items, I did and when the customer received it she gracefully smiled. Then I made a gift for one of my friends, a simple insignificant accessory for when she plays golf, when she opened it, she just said thank you but I told her to turn it over she saw the design I created for her with her name on it and her face was bright expressing so much happiness, she loved it! I understood how grateful and how much happiness an ordinary item but with a thoughtful personal design engraved on it can bring to someone’s life. I had customers who even cried. I ended up creating personalized gifts to bring happiness to others, I tried my best by heart, to create something thoughtful and special for the recipient that will last forever.

Leda Beatriz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well, since young age I started drawing and painting, I graduated as an Architect in my country El Salvador, I currently work with a local construction company in Crestline, CA. But I was always a Giver, I love helping others, I even worked in a psychological treatment center for 4 years, when it was just a 3 months favor to a friend; but I ended up caring about it very much, I’m not a negative judgmental person, I try to understand others, I attentive listening them and if I can help, for sure I will. I apply that empathy formula with my customers, and design something unique and meaningful to engraved on Wood, Leather, Glass, Stainless Steel and Acrylic items. In the future I would love my Laser Engraving Business to be my main job, I enjoying it, I’m passionate about it, it’s make happy and makes you happy, it’s a win/win deal.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
At the beginning I thought “ I want to make the Laser Engraving Services affordable for everyone” but I received the backlash that people thought that my product and services were cheap and bad quality. So now I’m trying to be just fair, and not selling myself low because I’m confident that I provide a standing customer service and high quality products.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals, customers satisfaction really pays off, they share their experience and my contact information with their friends and family members. I live in a small community, where everyone are nit too much into social media, so referrals for me are a great source. Of course I show my work in Facebook and Instagram
