We were lucky to catch up with LeCrue Eyebrows recently and have shared our conversation below.
LeCrue , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
“I wouldn’t necessarily say that I learned to do what I do. I kind of picked up things as I went along in life and constructed my own ‘language’ through the imagery of my work.
There’s nothing that I know now that would have gotten me any further in my learning process. I am creating in the moment and, in the moment, I am seeing my life translated in the context of the work that is created today.
I don’t necessarily believe that ‘success’ or notice is at the forefront of an artist’s intent. I believe that the art will reach success as the artist continues to succeed in translating his or her personal experiences, emotions, and thoughts vicariously in the language they build visually.
Life is the obstacle, art is the act of deconstruction to understanding.”

LeCrue , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started this by putting stickers all over NYC. I actually wanted to put ducks all over the city so that my kids could see ducks wherever they were. i have always been intuitive while creating art. Its a powerful part of my daily routine. So the ducks actually got my art to be sought after.
Small steps… Small steps is probably the best advice i could give. Also, erase the definition of success that has been built in your head. Define your sucess personally, and then take small steps to achieve that personal success.
Thats what my work is to me… small steps to understand life, express the wonders, the hardships, and recreate the beautiful times by painting them all in my own style.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can remain as complicated and challenging for artists as it has always been. The voice that you need to create your best work must come from the depths of either despair or intense self love. Both are channeled through the same intensity from within. Find your voice even when you think you have none left, and then be grateful that life has brought you to your voice.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Every day is a pivot, but that’s the source of creation. The pivot is rewarding and teaches you that you are more than capable to balance and stride. I live in NYC, and I have responsibilities and bills. I have noticed that work and art are one entity. They feed each other, and they fight all the time, but they are siblings with benefits that teach each other in rotation.
