Leasia “Leray”, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I have always been curious about therapy and its inner workings, as I am someone who has had negative experiences that have shaped my perspective on life. In treatment, there can often be pressure to “fix” the issue that brought you there, which I have found disheartening as I have learned to appreciate and embrace life’s challenges. Despite the changing times, I remain committed to expressing myself through life’s difficulties rather than taking the easier path. Life may not be simple, but it is a worthwhile experience. I have always created visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing works as an artist. Perhaps this can be attributed to my astrological placements, but I have always loved showcasing my creations. Combining these perspectives has influenced my creative work.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi there! My name is Leray May, also known as Leasia Posey, and I am a fine photography artist specializing in fashion and boudoir photography. Although I offer both studio and event work, my true passion lies in studio photography. I take great pride in making my clients look their best in front of the camera, and I truly believe that everyone is photogenic in their own unique way. I make it a priority to create a comfortable and uplifting environment for my clients during photoshoots, as I believe that a positive mindset is crucial for capturing beautiful and authentic moments. Through my work, I have had the pleasure of connecting with like-minded individuals who share my passion for promoting self-confidence and personal identity.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My aim is to create a warm and accepting space where people can showcase their true selves and display their exceptional skills. I have developed a deep admiration for beauty bars, which are made up of a team of beauty experts including hairstylists, nail technicians, lash artists, designers, and stylists. My objective is to create a platform where customers can get evaluated for a photo shoot and even promote their own beauty services to the industry. This place will unite a diverse group of creatives, ranging from fashion lovers to makeup artists and cosplayers!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

It’s important to evaluate your own value as an artist, as those who are not artists may not fully understand its significance and only view it as a service. By assessing yourself as both affordable and accessible, you’ll attract a certain audience who values what you have to offer. However, if you aspire to be seen as a luxury, then train and aim for that level of prestige. It is important to find opportunities where your worth is appreciated and to never doubt your own value. Whether you have been doing something for a long time or just starting, if it brings you fulfillment, cherish it, express gratitude, and work towards its growth.
