We recently connected with Leasa Arsenault and have shared our conversation below.
Leasa, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
One piece of advice that really stood out involved a client who was struggling with self-worth and constantly felt they weren’t doing enough. They were a high achiever but couldn’t shake the feeling that their efforts were never good enough.
I suggested a shift in perspective: instead of measuring their worth by accomplishments and external validation, they focus on acknowledging and celebrating their intrinsic value and growth. I encouraged them to keep a “Gratitude and Achievement Journal,” where they would not only list their achievements but also write down moments of self-compassion, personal growth, and instances where they simply showed up for themselves with kindness.
Over time, this practice helped them build a more balanced view of their self-worth. They began to recognize that their value wasn’t tied to their productivity alone but was inherent in their being. This shift in mindset led to a significant reduction in their anxiety and a more fulfilling sense of accomplishment. They reported feeling more content and at peace with themselves, as well as more motivated to pursue their goals from a place of self-compassion rather than self-criticism.
The result was a more grounded and resilient approach to their personal and professional life, leading to greater joy and satisfaction.
Leasa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Leasa Arsenault, Joy & Wellness Coach and the founder of Becoming Soulful, where my mission is to help high-achieving women break free from the chains of high-functioning anxiety and rediscover their authentic selves, and live their joy!
How I Got Started
My journey into this field was deeply personal. I experienced my own struggles with high-functioning anxiety and the relentless pressure to keep achieving, which left me feeling drained and disconnected from my true self. Through my own healing process, I discovered the transformative power of intuitive and holistic practices. This led me to train in various healing modalities, including Akashic record reading, energy healing, sound healing, transpersonal parts therapy, and laughter yoga. My goal became clear: to help others navigate their own paths to joy and authenticity.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One significant lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that my worth was tied to my productivity and achievements. This belief was deeply ingrained in me from a young age and was reinforced throughout my career. I often felt that if I wasn’t constantly achieving or working hard, I wasn’t valuable or successful.
The Backstory
Early in my career, I was driven by a relentless pursuit of success. I constantly set ambitious goals and measured my worth based on the milestones I achieved. I equated long hours and productivity with value, believing that my contributions were only significant if they were accompanied by tangible results.
This mindset led to burnout and a persistent sense of dissatisfaction, no matter how much I accomplished. It also fueled my high-functioning anxiety, as I felt an ongoing pressure to do more and be more.
The Turning Point
The turning point came during a particularly intense period of my life when I was managing multiple projects, personal challenges, and dealing with my own high-functioning anxiety. I was running on empty, feeling disconnected from my passions, and increasingly frustrated despite my outward success.
It was during this time that I started exploring various healing modalities and personal development practices. Through this journey, I encountered teachings and experiences that emphasized the importance of self-worth beyond productivity. I learned about the value of being present, nurturing self-compassion, and embracing the idea that my inherent worth wasn’t dependent on my achievements.
The Unlearning Process
Unlearning this lesson required a significant shift in mindset. I began practicing self-compassion and setting boundaries to protect my well-being. I also started valuing my intrinsic qualities and strengths rather than just my outputs. This process involved:
Mindfulness Practices: Engaging in mindfulness and meditation helped me connect with my inner self and recognize my worth beyond my achievements.
Self-Reflection: Reflecting on my values and passions allowed me to redefine success on my own terms, focusing on fulfillment and joy rather than external validation.
Support and Guidance: Seeking support from mentors, coaches, and healing practices provided me with tools and perspectives to challenge and reframe my beliefs.
The Outcome
As a result, I developed a more balanced and fulfilling approach to both my personal and professional life. I learned to appreciate myself for who I am, not just for what I do. This shift has significantly reduced my anxiety, increased my sense of contentment, and allowed me to connect more deeply with my work and the people I serve.
The Lesson
The key lesson I had to unlearn was that self-worth is not dependent on productivity or achievements. Instead, it’s inherent and valuable regardless of external accomplishments. Embracing this perspective has brought me greater peace, joy, and a more authentic connection to my purpose and the work I do.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The Challenge
I was juggling a demanding full-time job while also nurturing the early stages of Becoming Soulful. The dual responsibilities were intense. My days were filled with back-to-back meetings, and my evenings were dedicated to building my business. Despite my passion for Becoming Soulful, the constant balancing act was exhausting and left little time for self-care or relaxation.
I reached a point where it became clear that continuing in my job while trying to grow my business was unsustainable. The pressure was immense, and I felt caught between the security of a stable job and the uncertainty of diving into my passion full time. The financial stability of my job was a significant factor, and the fear of leaving it behind was overwhelming.
The Turning Point
One evening, after a particularly grueling day, I sat down and reflected on my future. I realized that if I truly wanted to make a meaningful impact through Becoming Soulful, I needed to fully commit to it. The thought of quitting my job was daunting, but it also sparked a deep sense of excitement and possibility.
I decided to take the leap of faith. I meticulously planned my departure, including setting financial safeguards, transitioning my responsibilities at work, and creating a strategic plan for Becoming Soulful. Despite the fear and uncertainty, I knew that this was a crucial step for my growth and the future of my business.
The Outcome
Leaving my job was a profound and transformative experience. Initially, there was an adjustment period filled with anxiety about financial stability and the pressures of running a business full time. However, as I fully immersed myself in Becoming Soulful, I began to see the fruits of my efforts. The business started to grow, and I was able to connect more deeply with my clients and offer more comprehensive support.
The transition also allowed me to invest more time in developing new programs and resources, such as the “Live Your Joy” program and the Soulful Serenity Circle. These initiatives flourished, and I experienced a renewed sense of fulfillment and purpose.
The Lesson
The key lesson from this experience was the power of taking bold, decisive actions in alignment with your passion and purpose. It reinforced the importance of believing in yourself and your vision, even when faced with uncertainty. The process taught me that resilience isn’t just about enduring challenges but also about embracing change and pursuing what truly matters to you.
This leap of faith demonstrated that stepping out of your comfort zone and committing to your dreams can lead to profound personal and professional growth. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most significant opportunities come from embracing the unknown and following your heart.
