We recently connected with Leanne Lawrence and have shared our conversation below.
Leanne , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
My great grandmother Mable was known for baking and making homemade ice cream around the community in Portland, Oregon. When I first started baking I knew I wanted to dedicate what I do to her, I wanted to keep her traditions strong and one of those ways was naming my business after her. It was only right to do so!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I always had a passion for baking growing up, as a hobby but it wasn’t until my second year in college at California State University, Northridge when I decided to take my love for baking to another level! My great grandmother Mable played a huge factor in my life to really step into the baking industry. I specialize in custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, other delicious desserts. I think what sets me apart from others is I’m based off tradition. I have timeless recipes that were passed down to me from grandma Mable and I recreate them from scratch. I am most proud of creating a business for myself that is evolving. I am creating something that could be passed down to my children in the future. I am extremely thankful for my clientele, recommendations, phone calls, text, emails and word of mouth! God and my clientele keeping the lights on !! I am grateful!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience by staying to the course of my craft. I did not focus on getting an audience at first, it was more so of me just wanting to learn different skills on decorating cakes and posting on social media. I would say network, get to know people in the industry you are in. Stay consistent, keep your eyes on your craft and the right audience will naturally come to you. You just never know who is looking at your work!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
A lot of my new clients come from word of mouth and social media. Someone always seems to recommend me to people and I am extremely grateful for that! With social media new clients see what I do and they reach out to book me !
