Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leanne Joy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Leanne, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
Leanne Joy’s first earnings came from a close friend from high school. as a senior, Leanne began booking photoshoots of her close friends for graduation photos, which then became a stepping stone in her creativity. This has helped her understand what kind of photographer she wanted to be.

Leanne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For years, Leanne Joy took pictures of people for fun. The years of experience allowed Leanne Joy to turn her photography hobby into a small business. While there are millions of pictures she took for her clients, Leanne Joy is applying what she has learned from photography to make her clients shine in her works. Her aim for every photo shoot is to reveal the truest and most aesthetic side of her clients. Leanne Joy works with clients, not for clients. In this way, she can understand what her clients want. “In most cases, my clients do not really know what they want. So I start off with the question; what kind of vibe do you want? sexy? cool?”, Leanne said. “The time I really felt like my work was acknowledged was when I was hired to do an engagement shoot. Those shoots are important because it’s a special moment in someone’s life, so I’m proud I was trusted do to such an important shoot.” Leanne said. Leanne didn’t stop at photography to express her art. She is also creative when it comes to dance and woodwork.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
“Honestly, people being open-minded and accepting of other’s people art is the best way to begin supporting artists and creatives. I feel like there are a lot of talented people out there not acknowledge because not many people know them. So an open-minded and supportive society is very important for creatives.” Leanne said. As someone living in Los Angeles, Leanne Joy has improved her art because of the very creative and diverse society LA has to offer. She has made connections with other creatives that inspire her and acknowledge her art.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
“Seeing the final product. There is so much work into editing and also making sure the client keeps their natural beauty. When the final product is done, it’s amazing how my clients are always happy with the final results. It says a lot about my work as a photographer.” Leanne said. Leanne Joy also loves making connecting with every creative and artists that she meets. It broadens her perspective and learns new things to improve her art.
