We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Leanne Bishop a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Leanne, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I’m an Actress, Writer, Director from Canada now living here in Los Angeles. My path was non traditional in that growing up in a small town I never thought a career in a the Film Industry was possible, so I took the ‘safe path’ and worked as a CPA and pursued acting on the side. However, after a life altering event, I decided to go to NYC for a 6 week Acting Intensive at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater. I feel in love with the training and decided to quit my job, sell my house, and do a full time acting conservatory program.
In the beginning I sometimes wondered if starting in my mid thirties I was too late, but for me, it was the perfect time. I feel like one of the reasons I am successful as an Actress/Writer/Director, is because I have this business background and feel very thankful for the path I took when I took it..

Leanne, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Starting out as an Actor, I had to learn resilience very fast or I would never have lasted a month. Dealing with auditions and rejections teaches you very fast how subjective the industry is and to not take things personally.
“Every no I hear gets me closer to a yes”, I learned very quickly not to take things personally.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
