Leandro, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Such a nice question! For sure the kindest is to be alive, and I have to thank G’d and my parents for that. Nothing else would exist in my life if I would not exist.
Taking this, very big detail, by the side, let’s talk about some kind things I received in my artistic career.
My first literary agent. Marta Sevilla. My dear Marta. I was 24 years old, just co-wrote my first book, didn’t know how the literary industry worked, and Marta bet on me. I was such a young fellow, and she deposit her trust in my work and ambitions. In less than a year she was able to secure a good contract with a good publisher and a year after a second one. How not to love her?!?
Ediciones B (Random House) did their part too! To bet on me and buy my first and second books? Then Edaf to buy my third book? Such kind acts!
In 2010 Fito Paez invited me to collaborate with him on two music videos, ‘London Town’ and ‘Las Tremulas Canciones’ (the last one by Estelares). He trusted me and was very kind to me,
In 2015 Alejandro Jodorowsky invited me to act in ‘Endless Poetry’. A huge feature-length film, and having a big role in the movie! That is big size kindness!
In 2016 Fin Manjoo invited me to be the protagonist of ‘Woodwind’. Wow!!!
In 2017 a beautiful crew and talented professionals had the kindness of trusting me and my brother Jonathan, to join our team and make the film ‘Externo’.
I could continue this list for a long time. I am here thanks to a lot of kindness. Of course, I do the work, but the kindness of generosity of so many have been key for build my artistic career.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Leandro Taub is an actor, author, filmmaker and public speaker based in NYC, that was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started his career as an actor and became a financial analyst for a fund management company and a financial strategist in the UAE.
Taub acted as Enrique Lihn, the best friend of Alejandro Jodorowsky, in ‘Endless Poetry’ (Cannes 2016). He is the protagonist of the feature film ‘Woodwind’ by Fin Manjoo (South Africa 2017), and the documentary ‘¿Quien Soy? En busca de lo esencial’ by Luis Esteban Alvarez Armenta (Mexico, 2015). Taub worked with Ralf Schmerberg in 032c ‘An Innocent Mind Has No Fear’ and Jägermeister ‘Be the meister’, with Florian Tscharf in ‘Bed’, and with Travis Stevens in ‘A Wounded Fawn’ (Tribeca 2022).
His published works include 5 books (Ediciones B- Random House, Edaf, Tikun Olam Books) and 27 audiobooks (Audible Exclusive) on Numerology, Yoga, Shamanism, Tarot, Alchemy, Kabbalah and Jewish Mysticism. He writes daily for over 1 million followers on social media and did over 200 talking events in the past 11 years.
Recently Taub debuted as co-director and producer in the feature film ‘Externo’. The film participated in 73 film festivals, received 45 awards, and was released on Amazon Prime Video in September 2022.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Many years ago, I went to Bratislava (Slovakia) and requested a hostel to work in their reception during the night shift and help them clean the place, in exchange for a bed and food.
Sometime after, a family friend gave me a house in Lischau (Austria) in exchange for me fixing things in the house.
Sometime before, I played in the metros and slept in a sleeping bag in an empty room.
I used to reduce my needs to the minimum to spend as much time as possible writing and studying.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
To understand that is not everything about oneself, that collaborate is great, that G’d is in charge, and that is useful to believe and trust.
