We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leah Lynn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leah below.
Leah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My Brother and I always wanted to try stand up Comedy, he did one time many moons ago; it did not go well. (LOL) so I set us for classes for Dec 2016; He unexpectedly passed away in Nov 2016! So I pushed it out of mind and life goes on.. but My Cousin wouldn’t let it go.. she was always saying, ” You told Everette you would, you have got to keep your word.”
After YEARS of hearing it on Nov 20th 2018 I stepped onto the stage at Comedy ZONE Charlotte for an open mic and have not looked back since!! I got the best reception for my set! The claps, the whistles, the energy was high in that moment!! I had done a great job!
And I have been getting accolades along the way: Myrtle Beach Comedy Competition 3rd Place (2019), performed in NY at my first comedy club (2021), 2nd Place March Madness Comedy Comedy (2023) and still making waves in 2024.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am originally from Charlotte, NC (there are alot of us left), I graduated with a Biochemistry degree, have had many jobs.. Chemist, Science Teacher, owned a Sports Bar, have a Catering Company, and stand up comedian is my latest entry. I also produce my own local comedy shows under my Production company; Funny Lady Productions. (FLP)
I have always been able to make people Laugh and I love doing it, so any potential “customer ” just needs a sense of humor & an open mind.
FLProductions is a concept that combines Local talent and National Talent; which could lead to connections or possible future work. We pride ourselves on producing a Great Show and the feedback and support have been phenomenal!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I had gone to Atlanta, GA for a showcase one time, I decided to stay for a few days after to grab some open mics, kinda check out the vibe of the Altlanta comedy scene and see if any connections or resources could be found… I went to a rather popular mic at 7:30; absolutely did a terrible job! 👎🏽 The first time I actually HEARD the crickets!(LOL)
Longest 5 mins of my life.
I picked up my face and my purse and headed to another open mic I had heard about. (Embarrassment is a heavy crown)
After waiting an hr to get on the mic, I ate it again!!! Nobody was listening to me! So I thanked them, and left.
Drove back home the next day… and hopped on another mic! Did so much better than the night before..
I had a long talk with myself on the way home…
Life is a bicycle, you are gonna fall off sometimes.. there will be scratches & scars from the fall, but you get back up, hop back on..and keep peddling.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My journey is fueled by the facts of : I want to make my Brother proud, it was OUR dream, but I’m keeping the torch lit.
2. I want to show my kids
(twins, 2 Girls) that when you set your mind to something it WILL be achieved.. and there is no right or wrong time to start working on your dream…but you have to START! & usually things fall into place for you.
3. I believe that this my Calling and I’m living my Purpose.
