We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Leah Litman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Leah below.
Leah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
A big part of my work is now public education — helping people understand our government, our constitutional system, and (with it) what is happening now. Because I’m a legal scholar I often focus on what is happening with the courts and what courts can and can’t do. I try to empower people to be informed enough that they feel comfortable weighing in on important political debates and suggesting paths forward.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I co-host a weekly podcast about the Supreme Court and the legal culture that surrounds it, Strict Scrutiny, that is now part of the Crooked Media network. Every week, we offer irreverent and snarky, but also substantive and analytical, takes on what is happening with the Supreme Court and the law. I’m very proud of how we have grown our audience to include not just lawyers but the general public and people who care about our political system.
Because I believe so strongly in public education, I wrote a book, forthcoming May 13, 2025, called LAWLESS: How the Supreme Court Runs on Conservative Grievance, Fringe Theories, and Bad Vibes. It, too, is designed to help people understand what is happening with the Court, what might happen next, and what to do about it. (And it’s designed to be fun in the process!)
How’d you meet your business partner?
The podcast I cohost is done with three law professors. I met them through their own public commentary and we found each other that way. Honestly we first connected over social media!
Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
When the podcast was taking off, we realized we couldn’t run it entirely ourselves, so we began approaching podcast networks about their interest in having us join the network. Learning how to quick pitch – and feel comfortable differentiating yourself, and what your mission is – was very important in that process.
