Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leah Jimenez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Leah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
In the past 2 and half years my life has shifted quite dramatically. In March of 2021 I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter. At the time I was working a part time job as well as doing online social media marketing. However, over the next several months both of those careers began to shift. As I started to think more and more about the legacy I want to leave behind, I decided to become a stay at home Mom. For me, at this time there is nothing more important than being able to stay home and raise my daughter. I want to have the biggest influence when it comes to her development, especially in these first few years. I realize that this is not the legacy everyone wants to focus on, but for me this is the most important thing to do at this time. I also know that it is rare to be able to do this, especially during this day and age and so I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do so. I have already seen benefits with her mental, social and emotional development. She is such a confident, smart, and happy child and I believe it is in large part do to the one on one time she gets.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have a bachelor’s in business management, I have taught GED level English, and I am an avid reader. So while I am choosing to stay at home with my daughter I like to read and write as a creative outlet. Currently, I can read anywhere from 500-1000 pages a week. I also love to help others with proofreading and writing so I offer those services on platforms like UpWork. And, I recently started writing my first Children’s book. This is a passion project of mine and something that I am very excited about.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal or mission of writing books is to first and foremost to create something that I can give to my daughter. She loves to read and so I am excited to give her something I know she will enjoy. Along with that, I would love to create books that are encouraging for others. Like I said in earlier these first few years of childhood are so important, so If I can create books that are inspiring for other children as well then that would be a win for me. The plan behind offering writing and reading services on UpWork is to hopefully help others and meet other creatives too.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One resource that I just learned about is Substack. This is a way to host your email or subscription list online. I am really excited about this resource because it is a place where I can post my content and people can subscribe if they like that content. There is no algorithm to fight or try to work around like there is on social media. Because of this, I feel like Substack is a way better fit for me and I am excited to start using it.
