We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Leah Hoffman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Leah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Coming up with a name was a challenge, especially with so many existing brands already out there. I needed something that felt personal to me, yet others could connect with. That’s when I decided to incorporate my Confirmation Saint into my story. Saint Gianna Beretta Molla is the Patron Saint of mothers, Physicians, and unborn children. Her last name in Italian means “motivating force”. Her story has always inspired me from a young age and I aim to inspire others through my work as a beauty business owner.
Leah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began my career as a makeup artist shortly after graduating high school. I attended Media Makeup Academy in Chicago, where I obtained my certificate in makeup artistry and began working events, weddings, and many other occasions. Helping women feel beautiful, confident, and motivated to be successful in all that they do is my goal and passion. I launched my cosmetic line Molla Beauty a few years ago and continue to work onsite weddings, events, and teach makeup lessons. I am at the beginning of a new adventure into the world of skincare so I can continue to help women feel even more confident in their skin and who they are.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think a strong reputation starts with consistency and professionalism. My style is also a contributing factor. I specialize in natural makeup application – the goal to help women feel beautiful while still looking like themselves. When I first began my career there were very few artists specializing in natural makeup which helped to set me apart. I also take my time to really listen and incorporate what clients are seeking instead of letting my personal artistic vision take over. If clients aren’t heard, they often don’t feel like themselves.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients has always been referrals from previous happy clients. Nothing beats positive word of mouth!
