We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LB a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
LB, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To me what it takes to be successful is a lot of things play a role in becoming successful but the biggest thing that will get you there is the mindset. If your mindset is not there, you will not be able to reach the levels of success you want to achieve. On the road to success, you will experience a lot of things that will test you, and try to break you and make you quit but that is where the strong mindset comes in. With your mind, you can do a lot of things that you may think are impossible but if you keep going, keep believing you can do it, then you will achieve it. Another slept on factor to success is being disciplined. Discipline will take you farther than motivation due to the fact motivation last for as long as you stay motivated, but discipline is what separates people who are average and great. Discipline will save you on the days you do not want to do anything but lay in bed on your phone because you are tired, that is where discipline comes in. If you have a daily routine you do on a daily that helps you reach your goals, you will be successful.

LB, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is LB, I am a creative director from Long Beach, California who specializes in video/photography. I have worked with a lot of brands and professional athletes as well. I shoot other videos as well like music videos, weddings, business videos, and vlogs but what I enjoy doing most is shooting sports. As a fan and someone who grew up watching sports, I find the most joy in doing this above all other content. I started in 2019 but took it seriously when I dropped out of college during the pandemic and told myself “It was this or nothing, I was all in and I was going to make this work”, and I did just that. It has not been easy, I wish I did some things differently but overall I would not change it at all. One of the traits I have that separate me apart from everyone is communicating until I understand the vision and what the client wants. I realized when someone books me for my services, although I know what I’m doing, it is still a collaborative effort to bring their vision to life. This is where communication is important to get the wants & needs of the client and understand what they are trying to accomplish with the content. My most proud accomplishment to date, is me working for myself for the past 2 years. It may not seem like a lot but I took a risk going all in with this and not knowing how it would play out, I just kept going and going and here I am now. I am nowhere near where I want to be but I know I’m going to get there.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped my reputation in the market, is my vibe & energy. Everyone that shoots with me says that’s the number one thing they feel when I am around and I am not weird. Add that along with fire pictures & videos that’s a great combination.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs are the future but you have to do research and not trust what you see on the internet. I’ve been invested in crypto since I was a senior in high school but with the rise of NFTs, I had to learn a new form of crypto, its not just a picture of an ape selling for half a million a dollars, its much more than that and once you become heavily invested into it, you will see what the hype is about.
