Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Layla Taige. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Layla , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Starting with my passion for dance. I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old. I trained in ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary until the age of ten. After that, I relocated and joined dance 411, a studio in Atlanta. I loved that their style was more of hip-hop considering hiphop is one of my personal favorites. Where I’m originally from, they didn’t exactly have what I would call real hiphop. It was very limited. So it was blessing to join Dance 411 after I moved. Everyone shared real, mutual love. It felt like my second home when I joined the 411 community. I felt comfortable in a setting where others could relate to me and share the same passion for dance like me. And not only that, I was finally in a space with people who looked like me. We put in lots of work, working up to 10 hours a day, five days a week, if not more, yet it never seemed like work to me because I was having so much fun; it’s my passion, it’s my gift.
Now let’s discuss my love for acting. I’d say by the age of 6, everyone could really see that I had personality, which is funny considering how shy and introverted I am. Anybody will tell you that if you ask. However, Layla Taige gotta whole different side to her. It’s like when I’m in my mode, I’m a whole different person. Like when I get on the stage or in front of a camera, the shyness goes out the door. But that’s what I love about myself, I have a whole different side to myself that no-one knows YET. Which I’m very excited to showcase.
When I was much younger, I used to make little videos of myself acting or performing as though I were on YouTube or in a movie, and I also made reality tv shows with my family, just running around with a camera in my hand. I was even using iMovie at the age of six to edit my own videos. At the time, nobody really thought about the idea that I was destined to be an actress, but I am certain because I enjoy creating both in front of and behind the cameras.
I’m also a writer, and I’ve always been told I’m a great speaker and writer for my age. I’m definitely taking that into account now. Now in the field of acting, it’s gotten more competitive. I’ve been acting for six years now. I’ve appeared in a number of movies, commercials and television shows, with “The First Lady” and “Fatal Attraction” being the two that stand out the most to me. I’m so grateful to God and Jesus for it, considering my face was heavily displayed in fatal attraction and I received credit, which is HUGE on the television series “The First Lady.” I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on with you guys as I continue to strive for more and the best.
Let’s discuss singing. I haven’t created any music as of yet. But I’m also making plans, so stay tuned. Nevertheless, I will always have a desire for singing, performing, and being on stage. I absolutely love sharing my gifts with the world. People have always complimented my voice, but when I was younger, I was much shyer, and I didn’t feel comfortable showing it off. However, now that I’ve grown up, I’m ready for it.
I currently run a production company called “Taige Productions” at the age of 17. On Christmas Day, of 2022 I received an LLC for my production company, stating that I am a business owner.
So I’ve kinda always known that I’m meant for the creative life and the spotlight because I’ve been doing this stuff since I was little. I am immensely appreciative to God and my parents. And I’m so ready for this next chapter in my life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I grew up in a small town, surrounded by well-meaning but small-minded individuals. At times, their limited perspectives would try to pull me down or make me feel “not normal” because I chose to chase my dreams rather than following the conventional path of going to inperson school and having a regular job.
But what they may not fully grasp is that I don’t aspire to fit into the mold of what’s considered “normal.” I thrive on thinking big and reaching for the highest stars. I’ve decided to go my own way and not stick to what society thinks is “normal” or “right” because I’m all about pushing limits and discovering what I’m truly capable of.
I understand that their outlook is confined to what they know, so I get that. But it’s why they say it’s good to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share your ambition and strive for greatness, just as you do. These are the people who truly understand the value of dreaming big and reaching for extraordinary heights.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to translate one’s ideas, feelings, and imagination into physical expressions is the most fulfilling quality of being an artist or creative. People from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and languages can interact and communicate through art. Also knowing that your work can affect others on a profound level is incredibly rewarding. Completing a creative project, brings a sense of accomplishment. It’s a tangible representation of the artist’s dedication and hard work. When your work hits someone right in the feels or makes them see the world in a new way, that feeling is the best.
