Hi Lawrencia, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.

I believe that every bride is unique and special and deserves to have a personalized shopping experience when they shop for their wedding dress. At Lawrencia Bridal Couture, I provide LA’s Best VIP Bridal Shopping Experience where brides get to enjoy the entire Bridal Suite to themselves and their guests as they shop for their gown and celebrate when they “Say Yes to the Dress!” It’s a 1:1 tailored appointment experience where I dig deep into a bride’s wedding day vision to create the perfect look for her that exceeds her expectations.

I recently had a bride who had shopped at some of the best luxury bridal boutiques in LA but still had not found her look. According to her bridal party, it wasn’t until she came to me that she was finally starting to smile in the looks that she was trying on. Her moment came when she tried on my Jiselle Jumpsuit and just lit up from ear to ear! She immediately said that it was “the one” and that she initially wanted to get married in a jumpsuit but was afraid that it would not be “bridal enough.” So, together we came up with the idea for me to design a full overskirt for her to wear over the jumpsuit for her ceremony look to walk down the aisle, then remove the skirt to rock the jumpsuit for her wedding reception.

It’s bridal moments like these that I live for, because this is really what my brand is all about. I design luxury looks for the fashion forward bride who wants to embrace her individual style for her wedding day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Lawrencia Bridal Couture is a luxury bridal brand that provides unique, luxurious, high-quality gowns & accessories for the fashion-forward bride. All of my gowns & accessories are made in my Los Angeles Atelier with the best quality & construction to achieve an impeccable fit that celebrates women of all colors and sizes! My gowns are known for their one-of-a-kind designs, luxurious fabrics, great fit, and unique beading exclusive to my showroom.

I have always been an entrepreneur at heart, and as a genuine lover of bridal fashion, launching my own bridal brand was always the plan. Deciding to gain industry experience first, I worked in the Bridal Fashion industry for 16 years and saw the lack of inclusivity and unmet needs in the market. As a black woman working in an industry driven by people who did not look like me, I often found myself having to break the glass ceiling, so I started Lawrencia Bridal Couture with a commitment to making the luxury bridal apparel industry more inclusive, celebrating women of all beautiful shapes and shades. Being featured in Brides’ Magazine article of “23 Black Wedding Dress Designers to Know” is a testament to my vision of becoming a premier, female black-owned bridal couture brand. I am excited to cater to brides with my unique, luxury looks for all of their wedding events.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

One of the best sources of new clients for me has been Google. My business is listed as “black owned,” and there are a lot of brides who want to support black owned bridal businesses, especially bridal shops and designers as there are still not that many of us that exist. I am grateful that Google is a great referral source for my business.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My brides are definitely the driving force behind my reputation in the industry. Because of the level of service that I give to my brides and the quality and uniqueness of my gowns, they give me rave reviews, and I’m very grateful!
