We were lucky to catch up with LaWann Stribling recently and have shared our conversation below.
LaWann, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
When I returned to Cannabis in 2018 I was displeased with the selection of infused items to use to microdose on. My kids haven’t seen me smoke so I was trying to hide that part and be able to medicate if necessary while at their full day sporting events. I’ve always dreamed of owning a bakery so I thought to brand our family business that for surely generate generational wealth using the skills I possess and providing wellness and education to the community.
I took a business course and set our business STRIB’ble District LLC up for trademark and growth. I’m my mind I was ready to present my business to the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission in 2019 and register as a micro processor. Once our brand was established I set out to apply then realizing I didn’t have the capital to afford step 1 of the licensing process.
I then had to pivot to enable growth and exposure and started from the ground up as a Cottage Foods baker in Maryland that offers hemp fusions and I registered as a MMCC Caregiver. The state of Maryland Health Department informed me I could not be a Cottage Foods business and handle Cannabis.
Next I separated our brand to 2 DBA (doing business as) STRIB’ble Treats & Cann’A Woman Heal.
I’ve been slowly growing and exposing my business around Maryland & DC. It took a lot of research and reading to learn to do what I’ve accomplished business wise on my own.

LaWann, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I became a small business owner to follow a dream. As a single teen mom I was consumed with working to ensure my son would be safe. I found that because I lacked a college degree my knowledge, skills and abilities were not respected. I decided to focus on self care and follow her dreams thanks to the advice of my PCP. I opened a home based daycare in 2008.
Mental Health is a huge topic in my daily life and especially since Covid and this subject aligns beautifully with my Why. From homelessness to happiness is what I preach and all made possible because went to therapy and did the work. I have always been fond of flowers and plants. In 2020 I began to grow herbs and beans with my children and remaining children in care. I also started 2 new businesses in 2019 to explore the thought of generational wealth and educate the community on the power of healing. My focus is to pay off debts incurred due to marginalization to support my family and postpartum depression. We are aiming to homestead for STRIB’ble Farms.
My target market is women and families searching for a natural and holistic approach to mental health wellness. The services I provide give my clients the ability to heal certain ailments without the use of narcotics. Narcotics have been proven to cause more damage than good. I’d ⁸ like to expand this to homesteading for her family. She feel the environment can lead and teach us so much more than societal teachings.
Her biggest accomplishments thus far is completing the process to Trademark STRIB’ble Brand. We are officially a registered trademark. Cann’A Woman Heal is trademark pending. I’ve received Black History Month 3 years recognition as a Business Trailblazer and Community Activist. I’m extremely proud of my contribution as Deputy Director for NORMLMD and Mentor for The Denney House No Entry Program. I’ve received 1st & 2nd place awards for DC Grower’s Cup for Topicals and Edibles and MJ Connect CBD Cook Off as well as Restaurant Guru Awards in 2022 & 2023. My 1st recipe is published in Fatnugsmag.com a Cannabis Culture Global Magazine and I paneled for National Cannabis Festival Wellness Pavilion Moms Breaking the stigma.
Having access to business capital and mentoring would be a goldmine. This support alone is a true gem for our business to achieve its full potential.
We have an amazing selection of digital magazines for wellness, gardening, cooking and grilling on your own and with kids.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was not expressing myself and my feelings. Growing up I didn’t get the opportunity to express my emotions so I learned to tuck them away. Tucking them away caused me years of bring disrespected and taken advantage of.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Yes I manufacture our wellness and bakery products. I researched the companies I like to partner with to assist me with not having the funding and promote other local businesses.
I choose this route because I love creating amazing food and beautiful useful products for our family and yours. Using my creator and ancestors given gifts to share the love and joy I feel inside while creating.
