Mama Lula’s Seasoning started when i was a child. I used to see her and my Big Mama season food without using measurements.
She used to cook alongside Dulan and Flossi at Aunt Kizzy’s Backporch for seven years, in which she had a notable reputation for her astonishing culinary delights! One day i told her “Mama, why dont you open a restaurant?” She replied, “Girl I aint got time for that.” So i told her that I have time and that one day your name is going to be in lights! As time went on I developed a passion for food and started using her creole seasoning as both a caterer and a chef at numerous venues. In twenty years I never received one complaint. I believe when people eat well, they live well. After Mama Lula passed in 2018 l decided it was time that the world knew what the fuss was about with her seasoning. Tantalizing creole spices, red peppers, chili peppers, garlic, onion, etc. that will have your taste buds on Bourbon Street drinking a Daiquiri.

For those who are new to my story, I am a passionate individual who found my way into the catering industry through a love for creating delicious food and memorable experiences. I provide catering services for various events, from intimate gatherings to large celebrations. My focus is on delivering exceptional culinary creations that not only satisfy taste buds but also leave a lasting impression on guests.
One of the main problems I solve for my clients is the stress and hassle of planning and executing a successful event. By taking care of the food and beverage aspect, I allow my clients to relax and enjoy their special moments without worrying about the logistics of catering.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my dedication to quality, creativity, and customer satisfaction. I take pride in using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to craft unique and flavorful dishes that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. I am most proud of my ability to adapt to different event styles and preferences, ensuring that each client receives a customized and memorable catering experience.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I believe that participating as a vendor in pop-up shops in various cities and states has been the most effective source for attracting new clients. And good ole Word of Mouth has been the best way to go.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
While I was catering an event, I received news that my mother had suffered a heart attack. Despite the shock and worry, I remained focused and completed my catering job. Afterward, I rushed to the hospital to be with my mom. Shortly after, I received a phone call informing me that I had been hired for the Pan African Film Festival. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance and dedication, and how finishing what I started ultimately led to new opportunities.
