We recently connected with Lavonte Mcleish and have shared our conversation below.
Lavonte, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
What I hope my legacy will be is the positive impact I left on people. I want to be able to change lives and make as much people happy when it’s all said and done. Happiness is what keeps me going I wake up blessed everyday.

Lavonte, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Lavonte Mcleish owner of Legendary Visions. My business is a media production company that delivers high-end photography and videography services. Originally what got me in the business was photography first, then videography right after. It was only a side hobby until Covid-19 left me like many other jobless. From then my business became my main priority. To think a minor setback could make a major comeback into a new beginning. If we’re being completely honest losing my job during that time was a blessing in disguise. I hated my job and I was not happy with what I was doing. Filming and taking pictures creates different kind of happiness for me. Create memorable moments for others is my passion. Seeing people happy with the work I provide for them creates a joy in my heart that I crave. My goal in my business is to ensure my clients gets the best service by fulfilling all their needs and wants. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing happy clients get the service they wanted.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I used my entire bit of savings from college and all the money in my pocket at the time to buy my equipment. Spending a total $6000 in equipment leaving me $0. I was then able to gross $12,000 my first year operating my business.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Legendary Visions was my side hustle business when I came into college. I was doing shoots for as low as $50. That $50 would last me a entire week. I was determined to get at least 3-4 shoots as much as possible. I sometimes shoot people for free just increase my portfolio to market myself. Overtime I turned my business into a versatile multimedia production company. By developing videography skillset after mastering photography. I managed to launch my business into a full time career.
