Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauryn Perkins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lauryn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew that I wanted to be a music artist ever since I was a young child. I saw my family members make a successful career out of music and that inspired me to pursue one as well. All of my family are musically talented, so they would inspire me to grow my musical skills and share my gift with the world.

Lauryn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am singer, songwriter, and musician from Miami, Florida and now based in Atlanta, Georgia. I have an EP out called “The Greatest Love Story” with a visual called “Reality”. You can find my work on all music streaming platforms under “Lauryn Perkins”. I have been creating and performing my original music for six years, and I am looking forward to collaborating with new artists on my next music projects.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I am independent artist, so many of my music projects were self-funded through teaching. I started teaching at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. I wanted to help communities who were struggling as a result of the crisis. During the time that I was helping hundreds of students learn English, I was creating music that I hope would inspire others to keep dreaming big and make a positive impact on the world around them.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Artists need safe spaces to grow their professional skills and meet members of their communities who are willing to invest in their work. With the rise of digital media, artists are often challenged with creating work that is visually and audibly appealing. Artists can thrive being able to find a community who can support art.
