We recently connected with Lauryn Kellett and have shared our conversation below.
Lauryn, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
First, thank you so much for inviting me to come onto Canvas Rebel and be interviewed.
One of the biggest risks I have ever taken was leaving my film production career behind to venture into a very taboo industry: becoming a psychic. Before stepping into this work, I spent years producing video professionally and running my own production company.
But I never quite enjoyed the high-stress environment, and behind the scenes I was working on growing my spiritual practice through YouTube videos and building a small community. When COVID hit in 2020 and my film company lost gigs, I decided to take a risk and jump fully into growing my psychic development services. At the time, I was terrified to leave something I had worked so hard to grow in order to pursue a career in a field full of stereotypes.
I am so glad I took the leap, because now I have grown my business into a full-scale teaching container with courses, mentorship, and certifications that hundreds have come to seek me out for. And as a full-time psychic reader, I now feel more secure, aligned, and the least stressed I have ever been. I am teaching thousands of students to grow their own intuitive abilities, breaking stereotypes through my ethical and grounded approach, and redefining what it means to be a psychic in the 21st century.
Trusting your intuition when your head screams otherwise can be scary. But when you know something is not meant for you anymore, you have to take that risk.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Lauryn, a Psychic Development Coach who teaches newbie intuitives to strengthen their psychic abilities with my community: the Psychic Development Society. I want to help empower people to connect to their own innate abilities so they can live a more spiritual life or even become professional psychics themselves.
I got into the spiritual field in 2015 purely because I wanted to learn. I had just lost several family members, and through my grief, as so many do, I started to ask questions about the afterlife. I did not have a crazy near-death experience like you hear from so many mediums, I just wanted to learn, and I did. Everyone is psychic. Stay with me. Everyone has intuitive abilities. Intuition and psychic ability are the same thing, and they are skills anyone can learn. And just like a muscle, the more you strengthen it, the more accurate and reliable it becomes. Just like anyone can learn to ride a bike, anyone can learn to hone their intuition.
Over the years, I have helped hundreds of people across the globe connect to guidance through my psychic, medium, or animal communication readings. I also teach people how to strengthen their own gifts through my courses, one-on-one mentorship, and group coaching in the Psychic Development Society. The Psychic Development Society is my online membership community, created for intuitive learners who want structure, practice, and a place where they do not feel alone in their development. I have watched spiritual seekers go from struggling to get one-word messages from spirit to starting their own spiritual businesses and feeling more confident and accurate with their abilities.
A lot of my clients, when they first come to me, feel blocked or scared of being wrong. They often do not know where to start and are overwhelmed by all the theory but do not know how to actually practice. I provide structure, ethical guidance, and actual practice by hosting group events. With steps, homework, and milestones combined with community, I have found that students can become incredibly skilled. A lot of those students honestly do not have community in their area, and this was a gap I found online that I wanted to fill. After just a couple of weeks of taking my courses and practicing in the community, I have watched so many start to feel confident reading others and themselves.
I am proud to be part of a positive shift in my field. Building something ethical in a space full of misinformation has been key for me. My integrity is of utmost importance, making sure that I am elevating the psychic industry and constantly challenging the stereotypes. I am most proud of my students in the Psychic Development Society, who have challenged themselves and also help raise the bar for all intuitive workers. Their growth reflects exactly what I believe in. Intuition is a skill. Community matters. Ethics matter. And with the right support, anyone can become a confident, grounded reader.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that I have gained the recognition I have today because of my transparency, ethics, and step-by-step approach to intuition. Many students come to me after trying to learn intuition without structure or feedback. One of the highest praises I hear about my work is how much students love that I actually show them where to start, what to do, and how to do it. Many of them have been disappointed by other courses, or they are very book smart but they do not exactly know how to put the skills into practice. Students tell me they finally feel grounded and confident because they know exactly how to grow.
After I learned from several coaches at the Aspen Program for Psychic Development, I went on to coach other students there. And although I provide readings and practice my skills daily, there is a whole other aspect I bring to the table through the experience of others. I learn from my students’ mistakes, challenges, and wins, and I do think it has made me not only a better coach but someone who understands the intuitive skill set even more deeply.
Through the almost eleven years that I have been doing this, I have created a system that actually supports my students. I provide courses with step by step instructions, homework, and assessments just like any educational curriculum. I know that just like any skill, you cannot master your psychic abilities overnight, so I created a monthly membership for my students to have constant exercises, challenges, new material, and hands on practice reading others. My reputation has also grown naturally through the community inside the Psychic Development Society, where students support one another, practice together, and stay connected long after their first course.
Through my YouTube channel and podcast, or anytime I am invited to speak, I strive to be transparent about the industry I represent. No, psychics are not right every single time. And yes, your intuitive ability is your own to access. I do not gatekeep or perpetuate the false narrative that this is a gift only chosen for a select few. My students often tell me they love that I encourage them to stay skeptical and grounded. I also refuse to use fear based content or sensational predictions to gain attention because I believe education and clarity always come first. I have put in the work myself by constantly honing my skills. I practice what I preach, and I come at it from a grounded, skeptical approach.
I think people trust me because I meet intuition with structure, honesty, and real tools that actually work.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I really approach growing my clientele by asking the question: what do my clients need and what value can I provide them? Although it is a simple marketing approach, I believe that my consistency, integrity, and community building has afforded me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people over the years. I have been uploading free instructional content to YouTube for almost eight years now, where I make sure to actually show how intuitive skills can be strengthened, not just offer vague inspiration. And for those who invest in my courses and mentorships on the Psychic Development Society, I make sure that they are actually getting something valuable: real practice, high level instruction, and clear tools to use.
What I have also learned is that people trust transparency. I know I am not perfect or all knowing, so I am honest about my imperfections. I normalize being wrong, I bring in other guest experts to teach workshops, and I heavily discourage people from treating me like some sort of guru (yuck). This, combined with my ethical approach, has gained people’s trust and makes others feel like I am safe to work with.
One thing that took me a long time to understand, but when I did it felt like a lightning bolt of inspiration, is this: people need community. When it comes to having psychic experiences, a lot of people feel “crazy” and they often have no one to talk to about their stories. It is scary telling that to others, especially when these abilities are still taboo in our society. Through my community on the Psychic Development Society, my clients are not solely relying on me. They have peers, practice, and support. Their growth is the clearest reflection of the work we do together. Their success stories, transformations, and the growth in their confidence have been my strongest strategy.
At the end of the day, I think people trust me because I give them tools that actually work and a community that makes growth possible. Intuition isn’t something only a few are allowed to have. It’s something you can learn. And I’m here to teach it.
