We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauryn Hobbins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauryn below.
Lauryn , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
In my junior year of high school, I started writing and recording music. I taught myself how to write and produce music, and I even started sharing my music on youtube and some other social platforms that year. The positive feedback I received inspired me to keep sharing my music and writing more. I realized very quickly it was something that I loved doing and helped me organize the thoughts in my head. I’ve been working on developing my skills on my own, but I do wish I had the opportunity to go to school for music production. My dream is to write music for a living and work with other artists. Balancing my business and my creative pursuits has been a challenge, but this year, I’ve been making it a priority to dedicate time to my music. I’m currently working on my first album, which will include songs I’ve written over the past five years. It’s an exciting journey, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!
Lauryn , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I began my music journey during high school, writing songs that reflected my personal experiences, which ignited a sense of authenticity and alignment within me. After high school, I relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where I produced and released my first single. The release of that track solidified my passion for music and my commitment to continue sharing my voice. I currently offer songwriting support and musical development for independent artists, in addition to performing live at select intimate gatherings, particularly those that support mental health and foster a genuine, supportive community enriched by art. One aspect of my music that I’m proud of is its honesty and its roots in my own life experiences. My upcoming album will include themes such as mental health, suicide prevention, love, and loss. In 2024, my objective as an artist is to launch the album and organize events that not only promote mental health awareness but also provide a platform for fellow creatives to share their work comfortably.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Connecting with people through my music and knowing that it resonates with them is such a rewarding feeling. It’s like my pain and experiences have a purpose, and sharing my stories and emotions through music becomes even more meaningful. It’s incredible how music has the power to make people feel less alone in their thoughts and struggles. My goal is to keep creating and sharing my music so the right people will hear it and be helped.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Networking with other artists and creatives is one thing I wish I would have done sooner. It’s amazing how connecting with fellow musicians and collaborating with them can open up a whole new world of opportunities and perspectives. By sharing ideas and working together, I get to tap into fresh inspiration and create music that I might not have even imagined before. It’s all about that creative synergy and learning from one another.
