We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laurie Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laurie below.
Laurie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I wanted to launch a natural body care line that promoters relaxation, self care and helping you look and feel better. Products with essential oils that have to power to lift your spirits and shift your energy. While brainstorming on the name energy kept coming to mind. I wrote done everything I wanted my products and line in general to focus on and Inner healing, self care and peace were at the top of the list. Suddenly it was right in front of me, INNERgie! No matter what is going on around us on a day to day we always have the power to control what’s going on inside. How we feel, how we react, and what we choose to give our energy to. Innergies was created just for that and once the name came to me everything else just fell into place!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Living with anxiety and treating my mental health pre covid was one thing. But once we were handed a life-changing pandemic and shutdown; what felt like overnight, mine like many others mental health was heavily impacted. My cohost and I have just launched dour podcast, Anxiety is a Mutha; in December 2019. The timing could not have been more perfect because the topic was apart of everyones conversation. Outside of therapeutic talks on the podcast my self-care routine always consisted of essential oils and relaxing fragrances to calm and center myself whenever I felt super anxious or stressed. While in quarantine I found myself escaping my family and taking long relaxing calm baths, or lighting a candle and laying in my closet in quiet. And it was there in my closet, my safe and sacred space that I had the idea to create a body care line that promotes inner wellness, peace, and balance. With products that include amazing fragrances and essential oils that instantly shift your energy, and so INNERgies was born. INNERgies launched September 9th, 2021. Months after I initially planned. We experienced many delays due to still being in a pandemic, and honestly launching a business when you’ve never done it before is not easy! However, everything happens when it is supposed to. The learning process, the ups, and downs. Attending YouTube university and a few semesters over at Google, networking and getting guidance from friends and family, and doing it scared were all essential in starting my business. Since launching last fall the feedback has been amazing.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
The cofounder of my podcast, Anxiety is a Mutha; is actually my 1st cousin, Nikita Seal. We grew up together super close. Adult life sent us in different paths as she joined the Air Force after highschool. But when she made the decision to move to Dallas a few years ago we were reconnected and a few years later launched our podcast. Mental health is something that is not talked about enough in our Community and is the reason we knew we wanted to do this. Nikita is also an amazing woman and entrepreneur of multiple businesses include ZZ’s Ice cream puffs and Pretty Rolls. She may be my little cousin but I look up to her more than she knows.
