We recently connected with Lauriane Riquet and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lauriane thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Yes I am really happy as an artist. In “dark times”, I sometimes think about quitting everything and have a regular job but as soon as this thought takes place in my mind I switch mood and think about how much I love to be independent and how I couldn’t live with a 9-5 job, having the same daily routine, greeting the same people everyday and not being able to be my own boss.
Lauriane, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my career as an actress when I was 8 years old. First I started doing commercials but I quickly started to act in feature films. Now, I’m 24 but I’m still into acting and I even started to direct my own short films. I’ve always wanted to be a director in addition to be an actress but I never got the courage to do it, I started in January and I’m working on my second short film at that time.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I wanted to help others to achieve their dream of becoming actors. Usually, you don’t know how to start in this industry and if you don’t meet the right people at the right time, you’re probably not gonna make it. So, I’m here to show them, how it works, how to get an audition, how to get an agent, how to prepare an audition and how to be as best as you can to get a role.
I want to help them and support them because sometimes, nobody supports them in their family.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Yes, sometimes when I’m with someone who’s not in a creative industry and who has a 9-5 job, he might not understand why I choose to “struggle” in my daily life, why I choose to not have the same income coming every month, why I choose to NOT have a 9-5 job haha
