Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Laurette Mesure. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Laurette , appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
When I launched my business “Laurette Mesure” in 2018 as a Personal Stylist, I started by purchasing clothing from retail stores in Dallas, Texas to style fashion models and clients. In the beginning, I offered many of my services for free to build my clientele and gain experience.
By 2019, I began charging for my services. Although I wasn’t making much, I truly appreciated every opportunity because fashion has always been my passion—not something I pursued for money, but something that comes naturally from within me.
After COVID in 2021, I started thinking about launching my online boutique. I did extensive research on how to find clothing vendors in the United States, which even led me to fly to Los Angeles to meet some of the vendors I discovered online and personally check the fabric quality before officially launching my boutique.
Since then, I have been doing business between the United States and my home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). To be honest, I didn’t earn much when I was only offering styling services, but I started generating real income once I launched my online clothing boutique

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Laurette Mesure began her career as a full-time fashion model from 2017 to 2019, working with various designers before discovering her true passion for styling people. I specialize in women’s fashion, offering clothing and styling services for clients between the ages of 18 and 40. With time, I plan to expand my brand to include men’s and children’s fashion as well.
Each of my clients has a unique sense of style and different preferences. Some come to me unsure of what to wear for specific events or professional settings, so I provide free consultations to understand their needs and recommend the best looks. I also guide clients to my website, where they can explore my curated collections.
My vision is to expand the Laurette Mesure brand across the United States and attract a wider clientele. Even though there are many online boutiques, I believe my distinct sense of style and passion for helping people look their best will set my brand apart

Have you ever had to pivot?
As a single mother and a full-time student, balancing my responsibilities hasn’t been easy. However, my strong sense of time management allows me to divide my attention between my business, my family, and my education.
The inspiration to launch my online boutique didn’t come only from my love for fashion, but also from a place of personal strength. During a difficult period following a breakup with my ex-fiancé, I decided to turn my pain into purpose. That moment became the motivation to stand firm in pursuing my dreams and building a brighter future for my children.
I am a woman who never gives up, no matter how challenging life can be. My faith in God and confidence in my abilities continue to guide me as I bring my dreams to life

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
This is an important lesson I want to share with every woman out there: never let your pain destroy your dreams or your ambition.
The devil finds joy in seeing us broken, crying, and giving up on God but you must keep fighting for what is good for you.
If you are a mother, remember that you are the mirror your children look into. Your strength, your faith in God, and your determination to keep moving forward become their reflection. Your strength is like your shadow — it never leaves you. It follows you every day, reminding you to keep going until your purpose is fulfilled
